an eye problem

my yemen chameleon recently shed his skin, soon after his left eye became swollen and he kept it closed possibly due to some shed skin entering or a bacterial infection or being attacked by crickets?? (though i only use brown crickets)
i watched it closely for a day to see if there was any improvement, i also tried to add some water to it to see if this would help but it didnt. i looked up some possible answers to what it could be using 'The Chameleon Handbook' by francois le berre. an eye infection said about having white material come out of the eye which it doesn't have though the problem got worse and the eye got more swollen and it seems to have a 'film' over the top so he cannot open it.
he has now closed the other eye which looks slightly swollen but small in comparison to the other. i took him to the vet who gave me eye drops which are chloramphenicol (reccomended in the chameleon handbook)
i have been giving him the eye drops for 2 days now and i havent yet seen an improvement. could this be because of this 'film' which is preventing the liquid eye drops from entering?
i am concerned as he wont open his eyes he is not drinking or eating though i have tried to offer food and water. i will try and upload a picture shortly

thanks very much in advance , Jake

sorry i tried my best to get photos though they aren't very good. you can just about see the small slit where the eye lids meet and the swelling around the eye.
thanks Jake

hi guys just a quick update,
the right eye is now much better from the eye drops the vet gave me, the left eye has not improved but it hasnt got worse. i have carefully been using a cotton bud with warm water to try and move it as the drops cant really go in properly and i have had to force feed him to make him eat and drink.

Call your vet back and tell him the right eye looks better but the left eye has gotten worse and see what your vet recommends. Are you giving long warm showers? I would recommend that along with calling the vet.
