I haver a juvenile Veiled chameleon and I was wondering the EXACT amount of crickets I should feed a day.

I was told 10 is a good amount.

Is there anything else I can feed it as it's hard to get a lot of the other creatures like silk worms and horned worms etc as it' so hot here in Texas.

thank you so much

You can feed as many crickets as your Cham is willing to eat, 10-15 is a good amount. You can try wax worms meal worms of any other worm lol. Your local pet shop should have at least one type of worm.

The only types of worms I can find around here at meal worms.

Because it is so hot here wax worms don't survive being shipped unless you do next day and that is extremely expensive for pet stores to do.

I also heard wax worms are very fatty and should only be used as a treat.

Ah, I see. Well yes wax worms are very fatty but like you said can be used as a treat or to plump up a small Cham. Looks like you knew your answer before you made this thread :p. Either pay the shipping or stick with crickets, not much else I can think of..

I think most people (as previously stated) would agree that as much as they can eat is a good starting point. I was told about 10-12 for my 4 month old, but he'll consistently eat 15-20 dubias/crickets a day.

The "exact" amount depends on the size of the animal and the size of the prey. Ten 1/4 inch crickets is not the same as ten 3/4 inch crickets. When they are young and growing they eat more.

You can get silk worm eggs shipped to you. Mine have coped with the shipping fairly well.

10-12 is a good number. Most pet stores sell superworms and those are a good option. I've been to Texas multiple times on vacation and it is very hot, your best solution would be asking to pick up the feeders or waiting till Winter to mix up your Chams diet
