Ambient temps + fogger?

Hello,

I have a 7.5 month old male Panther cham named Kiko. We have recently just moved him into his "big boy" cage (XL Reptibreeze). We were having problems with ambient temps in the smaller enclosure and i was hoping the larger cage with a greater distance from the lights could help solve that. I live in FL, so inside my apartment the air is probably upper 70's most of the time if not 80ish in my room (where he is). Once we got him in the enclosure my ambient temps were still between 80-82 (basking is 88 degrees), they drop to the low 70's after a misting but steadily climb back up. A local reptile store gave me the idea of adding a fogger (not for drinking/humidity) just to cool the enclosure. So i went ahead, bought the fogger, and have the hose coming through about at the halfway point in the enclosure to cool the lower half. To my satisfaction, my ambient temps are now in the mid 70's range. Kiko however was terrified initially by the fog, but has seemed to be getting used to it. I have read on here many times that a lot of people don't recommend foggers for chams, but i feel they were referring to them for drinking purposes (Kiko has a dripper all day and is misted 2-4 times per day). Has anybody else done anything similar to this? Will he get used to the fog or will it continue to stress him?

Thanks

I don't think the fogger is necessary, especially living in Florida. I keep my chameleons outdoors the majority of the time and it is way hotter than the inside temp of your house. The fogger may cause your cage to become too humid which could cause respiratory problems. When mine are indoors, I do not even bother to check the humidity levels as I know from measuring them before they were about where I wanted them in the 50% range or higher.
