Ambient temp

I have a male Jackson's and I live in nj. He is about 6 inches long (snout to beginning of tail). It is about 64 degrees f in the room with no space heater. Should I run a space heater while he's awake? It's a bit costly on the electric bill so I was wondering if he'd do ok without the heater running. When the space heater is on it gets to about 77 in his cage. His basking spot is up to 85 right now as well.

I think without the space heater would be better. Going from 85 basking to 77 ambient isn't much of a temperature gradient. They can handle Low 50's at night.

If his basking is 85 (fine) and ambient temp is 64ish in there, that should be fine.
