I have a baby senegal chameleon and he is always on the ground sleeping? That's only during the day though. At night he's back up in his branches. Also I have a Jackson's chameleon and he's always sleeping. Please someone help!!!

you can fill out the how to ask for help form would be great and pics of chams and enclosures too please sleeping is nver good could your senagal be a gravid female?

I don't know a lot about Chameleons but unless your female is gravid she should never be on the floor of her enclosure. Also sleeping during the day is also a bad sign. Maybe it's a calcium problem or maybe it's their lighting or hydration? There's a lot of things it could be, so like he said filling out the "Ask for help" form would be great along with some pictures. I hope everything is alright :)

well the senegal is only almost 4 months old and the jackson is only 6 months. i have for now the jackson in a 29 gallon tank because his screen cage isnt 100% complete and the senegal is in a 20 high and his cage isnt done yet.

If you have them in fish tanks then they really dont have many places to go very high up. I know yo said you are building the proper cages. My chameleons will venture to the bottom of their cages.A female does not have to be gravid to be on the bottom of the cage. Any chameleon may go to the bottom of the cage to explore. My new chameleon loves being on the bottom whether it is in the outdoor cage or indoor one which is strange. He is active though and that is the difference. He is not laying there sleeping which tells me something is wrong with your set up or your chameleons. If you have them in fish tanks it very well can be too warm up there by the lights for them. If your chameleon is going back up at night when I assume your lights are off there may enlie the problem. The light may be too intense for him and he could be closing his eyes from that or the temp may be too hot. Please fill out the forms and post pics. Getting them out of those tanks should be a top priority as they are just not suitable homes for chameleons and do not provide adequate ventilation either.

Not exactly true...chameleons will go to the bottom of their cages from time to time. A female does not have to be gravid. Some chameleons like to go to the bottom of their cages. It does not mean anything is wrong. Sleeping on the bottom is a different story.

Now what about my jackson? He has heat bulb because the temps I'm
My house are good? Like when I first got him about month ago he was active. Now he won't eat and sleeps all the time, but his colors are normal?

sleeping

My cham goes to sleep in a planter, of Pothos, at the bottom of the cage every night. During the day, he likes to bask and roam around. Seems in good help to me.
