Today I started my enclosure revamp project. I attached my smaller 16x20 cage to my new and bigger 24x48 cage total height of 5 feet and 8 inches. Used galvanized wires to attach the small cage on the big one and used hot glue to cover the sharp edges of the wire. Fishing wire was used to stitch the cages together. Hoisted a big pothos plant in the middle and let it's vines droop down on 2 Schefflera arboricola. One tall schfflera to tower up and one shorter version but with more branching twigs. The whole top portion is open so I can link some vines to my hanging pothos plant and provide some free range.
So far the whole rig isn't done I do need an additional source of lighting for the plants involved. Also I'm thinking of adding and extra basking spot. What do you guys think? Im also thinking of adding a few jungle vines for horizontal climbing platforms. Currently have 7 waiting for fake vines to wrap around the jungle vines. If I can get a hold of some small live plants I can attach them with some of my powerful magnet but not my priority as of the moment.
Also the clear tape surrounding the top portions of the cage are my TEMPORARY attempts at stopping escape attempts. Diego, my cham has escaped his free range before. Lost him for 4 days and girlfriend was LIVID about it. Hopefully this will last him the night until I can get some thick plastic wrap that I will use to circle his enclosure. In case he manages to get out of the cage and climb down he wont be able to climb up a the smooth surface of a clear plastic wall.
I'm also going to install some black cardboard and shape it into a pyramid. To cover my lights and prevent burn injuries.
What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
p.s. Diego looks grumpy there. I had to wake him up during his sleep so I can use the pothos in his old cage and hang it as his free range.
