So yeaterday I got an amazingly bix cage for shamous yesterday. I was so excited to get him this cage! Because he's always trying to scratch his was out of the one we had him in before and I felt bad for him. But anyways me and my boyfriend went out later and got a large plant to put inside of his cage(by the way, is it ok to put a palm tree in with chams?) when we got home I opened the bedroom door and noticed thunder(the cat) standing by the door. "oh thunder? how did you get in..... OMG!" I look over and Shamous's cage was nocked over and wide open! I was so sure thunder had killed him.. I glanced at shamous and he was laying there not moving what so ever.... I walked out of the room and could no go in there... My boyfriend was so upset and mad(this is his chameleon).. He went in the room and about 5 minutes later he comes out. "Shamous is fine! He's alive!" I guess he was playing dead!!! :D I was so excited and happy that he was ok! We put the plan in his new huge home and he loves it! Im just a bit worried about him being able to get his crickets? any ideas?
Anyways im extremely happy he is ok(not a scratch on him) and Thunder will NEVER be in that room again :)

Heres a picture on his new cage, this thing is huge, it comes up to my chest so im guessing its about 3 to 4 feet tall :)

Veiled chameleons are Omnivores. Meaning they will eat insects and plant material.

consult the toxic plant list on the forums to make sure the palm tree is not on it. If is it - remove it, if not it should be fine. However Shamous will still need vines and leaves to crawl on.

For the crickets - start to train shamous to cup feed. That is - placing the crickets in a container that limits their movement. A large cup is usually the best choice. Shamous can then just go to the cup and eat from it - without ever having to "search" for the food.

Be careful with the cat - shamous may be alright physically - but stress wise is another thing.

Consider securing the cage to the wall or table that it rests on so that it will never fall again.

Making his home secure, makes him feel secure.

Consult the plant lisy and toxic plant list they have here to make sure the palm is okay. I am not sure on that one either. My choice would have been a ficus or dwarf shapella "sp" tree since I know there safe! Good luck and glad you had a good outcome of your mishap!
