Aggressive Panther Chameleon

Dominate

New Member
Hi, I am new to the forum but not to keeping a panther chameleon. In fact, this is my second panther after my first past away on November 1, 2011 at 5 years of age. My first panther is very docile when I first got him when he 3 month olds, but this panther keep on hissing at me. Does he calm down as time passed? He is 6 inches long from head to tail. He just arrived today from chameleon company. I think something is wrong with his tongue because he cant stretch it out to catch his prey and have to be very close to his prey and keep on missing. Help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new addition! I've gotten two chameleons from the Cham Co and both of them have been great.

I've had 4 panther males, and two of them have been pretty aggressive, one has been really shy but not aggressive, and one is just the most social guy. So their personalities are all very different, an it may or may not change with time. He may come around with patience and hand-feeding.

Is he shooting his tongue out now?

even the smallest ambilobe chameleons can be mean. nice a nice pinch for a bite also. the teeth with like my male 8 month old probably worse then a pinch. i guess am trying to say shouldn't bite the hand that feeds but i have been bitten alot but they will always be in your heart.
