Age Using Hornworm Feeders

At what age or size should my male Nosy Be Panther be before feeding him hornworms? I bought some small ones but don't know how small they are yet.

It's not so much about the age of your cham but the size of the feeders compared to your cham. Hornworms are soft, so the usual "no longer than the distance between the chameleons eyes" does not specifically apply. BUT, they can still choke on them. I don't know if there is an actual "guide" for these kinds of feeders. All I can say is, err on the side of caution.

I have a full grown male veiled who eats the full size hornworms, but my 7 month old only gets ones that are 1/2 - 2/3 size, and even the 2/3 size ones sometimes make me a bit wary.

With feeders the general rule is that they are not WIDER than the space between the eyes, with length being less important. With hornworms being pretty soft, most chameleons don't have an issue chewing and swallowing a worm that might be a tiny bit on the large size.

When you get the hornworms just see how they look. They might be perfect.

Sorry, I did mean wider  Must be the Monday morning "not enough coffee yet" mistype!

I agree though, hornworms are definitely easier for the to get down.

Ok, thank you all. I will gauge size when they come in. Hopefully he likes them more than Butterworms. I need another feeder for his diet.
