Hey so I’m still not sure how old fig is and I would like to know so that way I’m not under or over feeding him he currently gets 5-8 medium crickets with 4-5 black soilder fly larvae everyday With the occasional horn worm and wax worm. For reference this is him next to a US large McDonald’s cup. Also he literally hates me that’s why he’s that color lol.

No I offer it to him and he just crawls right in he absolutely hates being handled the first 30 mins outside of his cage by anyone but once he adjusts he’s super super sweet. He’s had a rough past I was his third owner so he’s very skeptical of people we have a love hate relationship plus he’s super territorial of his cage so if we are in or near it he gets annoyed. Also another thing I choose to feed him like this bc I found it is the least stressful for both of us I don’t have to hold any of his bugs and he gets to eat without my hand and I’ve tried other methods but he won’t go near them.

here is me holding him at our vet

Hun can you take a picture of him head on. I want to see what type of fat storage he has going on in his casque.

He looks more on the thinner juvenile side. Based on thinner stature and casque height I am betting somewhere in the 8 month area. Typically they will do a reduction of feeders on their own when they hit about 9 months old.

Perfect thank you. Just wanted to see that angle because you can see the real girth of the casque. He looks good. I am betting he is right around the 8 month range. I would give him another month on every day feeding with the amounts your doing. Then you will go to every other day of about 10 feeders. Keep him on that for a month. Then drop feeder amounts to 8 every other day for a month or so. Then drop to 6 every other day for a month. Once he hits the 12 month mark you want him on a schedule of every other day or 3 days a week of 3-5 feeders.

Ensure basking temps are correct as well. This helps reduce the metabolism. I keep my adult male at 82.

Can always try one of these feeders. The light green ones I got 3 from frams chams for 5 bucks each.
