After all the hype.....

I didn't come home with a Chameleon :'(

But I came home with 2 German Giant Hypo Beardies instead :)

Here is why:

I got to the show, and the adult chams were GORGEOUS, but I didn't like the breeders, they didn't sit will with me..

1st cham I saw: Huge, gorgeously colored Male Veiled (approx 3-4 yrs), BUT he was MISSING HIS TAIL, gone, completely, like nawed off or something! I asked what happened to his tail and the dude goes "Another cham bit it off, happens all the time" and I was like "not if you house them properly, and separately..." and he got huffy and walked off to try and sell the panthers, which I inquired about, and he said "uh idk, they're nosy....something??" and I said "Be or Faly?" and he goes "yeah, that".

Strike 1!

2nd cham I saw, different breeder: BEAUTIFUL baby veileds. Smaller than my pinky nail. I said, "how old?" they said "2-3 months" and I said "Um, no, I think these ones are about a week" and she goes "no, they're just runts" me: "the whole clutch?" Her:"yeah, $60 bucks" I said "i'm gonna look around first." Never went back.

Strike 2!

3rd cham I saw, different breeder again: Male & Female Veileds, huge, gorgeous, freindly but scared crapless, I think they knew I knew what I was doing b/c she climbed up my arm and got upset when I put her back, at which point I commented on her "preggo looking belly". The guy said , "yeah, she's gravid." Me: " shouldn't she not be here then? stressing them out when they're gravid is bad" Him:" Nah she's fine. Wanna see them fire up!?" the crowd "Yeah!" He went and grabbed another male, who also was missing part of his tail (not the cham from earlier, his story comes later). And starts putting him in the face of the gravid female and male. So the female, of course, shows her "get the hell away from me" colors, and tries to run away and almost falls off the table!

Strike 3!

The same breeder w/ the gravid female is was selling babies who were little smaller than a paperclip. Not the teeny tiny paperclips, but the more industrial sized ones, but they put a full grown dubia on the container with a baby girl who was FREAKING OUT. she was all sorts of yellow and green and black!

Strike 4!

I went up to the guy with the fired up cham, and told him that pascal was small, and he didn't ask any questions just started lecturing me about how my set up was crap and its my fault Pascal died.

Strike 5!

Found 6mnth old chams in the same enclosure all dark and stressed.

Strike 6!

So I decided to wait for my boyfriends sister and her husband breed theirs.:(

To read the good part, and meet my new babies, read my thread "Introducing Goliath & Bella :)"

Midwest Reptile Show.

Maybe it was just my perception, but I dont think so!

The cham who was missing most of his tail? It was like nawed or broken off at about 1/2 in below the vent!!
