Afraid of me... :/

So, I've had my veiled cham for almost 3 months, and whenever I try to get him out of his cage, he starts hissing, trying to bite me, and runs away. I've tried to hand feed him, but he won't settle down enough. Is there anything I can do to make him not afraid?

When you approach him, approach him from underneath him. This will show eventually that you are not a threat. Hand feed him and make sure the food is under or at eye level.

Just little things like that.

Never grab him from behind, always slowly lift under his legs.

Usually my cham is pretty pissed if I try and stand over him or grab him quickly. I always bring my hand verrryyyy slowly to him and (he still hisses) push my fingers under his belly and lift up. Very slow.
