Hi, I was wondering how to go about shipping a chameleon. I found a really nice veiled but they are in a different state. The owner is nervous to ship it. How do I go about shipping a Chameleon? And is USPS the best way?

You have to go through this place... https://shipyourreptiles.com/ Call them. The cham has to be packaged a certain way right before they ship out. They must be dropped off at a Fed ex hub.
But honestly if they are not comfortable with shipping and have never done it I do not advice it. I have shipped once but I had a VERY experienced person giving me exact details on what to do. It was still extremely stressful.
There are other places you can buy a Veiled from that are good breeders. They have the experience shipping and know how to do it and when to do it with the weather. They currently have Veileds https://framschams.com/collections/all?page=2

There are services that do this. https://www.reptiles2you.com is another one—and there may be more—but you don't have to use them. They're convenient, and are probably worth it for a one-off, but all the information you (or the vendor) would need can be found online.

Best way... IMO, FedEx hub to hub. That way the animal ostensibly spends the least amount of time in the shipper's hands and least amount of stress, but you have to go to your hub and pick it up. I've done this twice (shipped by breeder, and worked out just fine) and there are probably members who've done it many many times.

The shipper will need to get an insulated box and possibly a heat pack depending on weather. We ALWAYS recommend FedEx hub to hub shipping. Any of the reptile shipping companies mentioned above will have a section on their site that you can put in zip codes and see where the closest hubs are for the shipper and recipient.

There must be a lot of reptiles shipped to our area, because the FedEx people seem to know exactly what's going on; they always ask what's in the box.
They don't get as excited about snakes (no offense to snake folk—it's just their reaction), but when we told them baby chameleon or baby tortoise, they all crowded around to see them.
