Hi,
I have a 1 1/2 year old Veiled. She is very healthy and well taken care of. She has laid eggs twice now (once while in my care). The time she laid eggs when we had her she started scratching at the bottom for about a week while I was on holidays. When I returned, my sister who was caring for her told me. Immediately I started researching and within another week I had a very large pot with soil and a plant in her enclosure. Within 24 hours she had dug and laid her clutch (about 22).
For about three weeks now her food intake has been going down. She has been a little aggravated and last week I started seeing the outline of eggs in her lower gut area. I immediately changed her enclosure to the same way I had it previously when she laid and she did not show interest in the pot, but continues scratching on a little substrate I line the bottom with (coconut husk just to keep the moisture in during winter months when the furnace is running all of the time.... Canada!).
I've been scratching my head wondering why she's not interested. I changed the soil in the pot to the same soil she used to lay the first batch. Still nothing.
I'm getting concerned now because she has not eaten in three days. She shows no interest in crickets, fruit or veg she normally eats. She had three hornworms on Sunday but nothing since. She still seems a bit energetic. Colouring is still bright green and sometimes brownish when basking, but she's defiantly carrying eggs, that I know.
Humidity is god (I use automister and spray if it gets a little low).
Water intake should be good. I don't always see her drink but she has a little dripper on for 15 minutes twice a day.
An advice for a first time Cham owner? Anything would help.
