Hi, I am a new member thinking of getting a chameleon within the next several months and am currently doin research. I was wondering where I can get an inclosure for an adult panther when the time comes or possibly how to make/build one. Also as far as ease of care and cost, how does the vieled compare to the panther? Thanks in advance

For cages check DIY cages or LLL (both are site sponsors) and amazon sometimes has repibreeze cages. Veileds can resist higher temps, have different coloring and I may be wrong but some say panthers are friendlier than most Veileds but panthers are more expensive. Welcome to the forums! You'll learn a ton here as many experienced people are on here. Once you get your chameleon, you will have to post pictures by the way

Welcome to the forums! I have a veiled and 2 panthers, and there is really no difference at all to their care. All three are in cages all in a row (with sight dividers), and all are on the same automated lights and mister timers. All get fed at the same time, and roughly the same amounts - one panther is a female a little younger, so she gets smaller feeders and a lower quantity.
As for friendliness, personally my veiled is a giant chicken, but my male panther only wants to come out and climb on me. My female panther is learning to trust me, slowly, as is the veiled, but it's a process. There are members on here with friendly veileds and unfriendly panthers. My advice is to choose the one you like the looks of and find a reputable breeder on the sponsor page or in the classifieds. Traits like friendliness are often inherited, and it's also dependent on how much they were handled as babies. Big time breeders may not have the time to spend getting babies acclimated to humans, whereas those in the classifieds may just breed for fun and have more interaction with them. It's all up to you, but good luck!

I totally agree on getting one with a little age on them. I usually look for chams in the 6 month range. They are eating pretty much full-sized feeders and are generally less fragile. As far as who to buy from- many of the experienced members are also small breeders. I bought both my boys from forum members, I looked in the classified sections then "cyber stalked" their posts to see what kind of breeders they were.
I was looking for breeders who were "hands on" and wanted to produce great pets more that perfect specimens...
