ACO update

I just want to update the situation with the seized animals including the Cham. The courts have awarded ALL of the animals to the Department and most are in new homes now. I have been designated as the "permanent foster home". It does look like the Commonwealth Atty and the Atty for the Defence will be working out a plea agreemnet and one of the stipulations is to NEVER be able to own any animal to include fish.

Thank you to all the folks here for some of the best info ever on chams. I have learned so much and am still learning. The cham is shedding right now (that was a eye opening experiance and a trip to the vets office...lol). I will try to get some pictures of her as soon as she finishes. The only ones i have right now are evidence and can't be posted.

I do not have a name for her yet and really don't have any idea what to call her. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.....

Congratulations I am glad things are going well. I agree Lucky should be the name for your little green friend.

Yeah Lucky sounds perfect. Thank heavens she`s got such a devoted foster friend :) I`d love to see her pics.

Glad she will have a good home now!

You said..."The cham is shedding right now (that was a eye opening experiance and a trip to the vets office...lol)."...couldn't help but smile about this....reminds me of the good old days (20+ years ago) when I started keeping them! What did you think was happeniing?? :)

One thing I didn't mention in the other thread you had...I would put a container of washed playsand in the cage so she has a place to dig in case she needs to lay eggs. (Veileds don't have to mate to produce eggs.) The minimum size of the container should be about 8" wide by 10" long and 10" deep. Does she show mustard colored markings on her green background or blue/torquoise dots?

Here's a site with lots of female Arabic names you could choose from...

Saleema might be good because it means safe, peaceful, flawless, healthy.

Good luck with her!

THANK YOU folks!!!... Lucky it is... arabic version ... Su'da

I will be getting pics as soon as the shed is done....lol
When she started he face and forehead turned white and so did I...hehe. I had no idea what was going on with her. I got quite a few chuckles from the vet techs. Keep in mind that at that point she was still evidence and I was totally responsible for her and did not want to give the defence an out saying that she was healthy when we took her and we did something to her...

I did read something about the sand somewhere and have some in with her... thank you for the demisions... i had not seen them before. How deep does the sand need to be?

One other question..... Su'da uses one spot to poop... makes it easier to clean up but is this normal?

I havr noticed she has a basking spot and a sleeping spot. When she is ready for bed she goes to her spot... puts on her nightgown colors and looks at me like ... come on turn my light off...

The laying bin needs to be 12 inches deep.

Both my chams poop in the same place. :D:D:D I free range so it really makes it nice.

sweet...ty ty. I had to get a 50 lb bag of sand just to get 8 ounces out of it and a 80 lb bag of organic potting soil for about 1/2 pound... my little apt is getting full quick.
