A strange behavior..thoughts?

Evening All,

While observing my Male Panther today, I noticed a strange behavior that I had never noticed before.

As he was cruising around the enclosure, a coupe of times he stopped to 'bite' a branch he was on. There was no mistaking it and it was fairly aggressive. This was not the using his tongue to taste the area, he grabbed a hold of the branch! Lasted a second or two then he would move on.

He is about 6.5 months old and my first that was that perhaps he was 'marking his territory" if they do such things.

He is healthy in all ways and I have no reasons to be concerned, but again, the first time I ever noticed it.

Some panthers seem to bite/chew on non-food objects when they are young. Branches and rocks seem to be the most common thing they bite. As long as he can't chew off any part or swallow anything (loose bark, fake leaves, small rocks, substrate, etc.,) it shouldn't cause problems. They seem to grow out of it as they get older. Some people think that they might do it for nutrients, but no one seems to know for sure.

my male panther will do that when I take him outside and put him in his tree! It seems really agressive for a little guy who moves so slow and is usually pretty chilled out Lol it's kinda funny to watch Not sure what they are looking for...I always thought it was maybe more moisture, but he goes for the really dried up plants or branches! As long as they don't swallow anything big, it will be fine
