A reptile disfunction?

My 9 month old male Ambanja eats like a pig, stays well hydrated and enjoys both his inside and outside enclosure. I feed him gut-loaded (and dusted) crickets, and throw in a few superworms and silkworms (mostly hand fed) for variety.

He did a complete shed 2 weeks ago and is also still dropping sperm sacs all over the place!

His feces and urates are normal ( brown/white as they always have been).

Seems like he is choosing to stay in the mid-section of the enclosure a LOT, although he does come up for basking throughout the day. His favorite spot now is in the shade of a magnetic feeding tray. This spot is almost 2 feet below the basking light.

I constantly take his temperature with a digital laser thermometer just to see if he is cold, but his avg temp while in this part of the enclosure is ~ 78 degrees.

While in this mid-area, his colors are beautiful and he rarely EVER gets stressed and turns dark (except when basking early in the morning).

My daytime(lights on) temps are on the mark where they should be and the lights out temp is ~ 72-23 degrees.

I'm not suggesting he is sick or anything like that and there in nothing that I feel I need to fill out the "FORM" for, but just curious if anyone else has seen this behavior?

It just seems ODD as he has only recently started doing this.

Maybe he's just entered his "teens" and his life style is changing?

COMMENTS WELCOME and ENCOURAGED.

Mine is doing the same thing. His hatching was in Jan, so almost 8 months. He has been doing different stuff alot. Feeding slowed down, then picks up. He has striked on water and food. He has been wanting to "Live" outside his cage for some reason. When I feed him him he runs to the top to climb out. I have had to force him back inside, I feel bad for doing that because he looks sad when I close him back in! lol.

Your comments DO make me feel better. Rango also sees me coming and immediately comes to the front of the enclosure and wants out. He will climb out on the top of the screen door and just sit there looking around, but that makes me nervous since it's almost a 6 foot drop from there to the hardwood floors below.

He never did this until I started putting him outside. He LOVES it out there. I really feel bad when it is overcast and rainy and I can't take him out. I'm not concerend about the rain, but the winds may blow his enclosure over!

I've read a LOT of posts in here and I've read where MANY Chams go through these different stages. Hopefully, it's just a phase he's going through.
