A Poem to My Chameleons

JUST BETWEEN YOU AND I

When we met, you were so small...
Fragile and scared with no color at all.
I watched you rapidly grow and blossom,
Into a Cham that is totally awesome.

You were discovered by the Ancient Greeks,
A calculating creature that's graceful and sleek
Your uniqueness deserved a proper name,
And 'Ground Lion' is what you became.

Sitting and watching you move for hours,
Consumes me with your intriguing powers.
How can a lizard be such an obsession?
Only one can know when in your possession.

I look forward to coming home to see,
My Cham that undoubtedly needs me.
I have other pets, yes it's true,
But none of them fascinate me like you.

We have a secret, just you and I,
That no human can really deny.
How can I be addicted to this World of Chams?
That's something only you and I understand.

My affection for you is true and real,
And I hope you know the joy I feel,
Of being your Keeper, my little friend,
Until we part, at the end.

Nice poem Donna! :)

I tried to write one for Homer once, It went..

"There was a young cham from Yemen,
Who was green and orange and lemon,
.....?

Thats as far as I got! :D

Awww! That is beautiful! You obviously love your cham so much! I find my two far more rewarding than any other pets - there's just something about chameleons that makes them extra special.:D

Thanks for being brave enough to share that, it was very thoughtful.

Next step? Petrarchan sonnet!! :D Or maybe an Epic. Oh man, I would give you many rep points if you wrote a sonnet and could stay in meter :)

Something is facetious about your reply,
You speak with a forked-tongue, oh my.

I'm sorry? I just have respect for people who share personal stuff. I really did think it was thoughtful and that you are brave for being able to share it. I am not comfortable with sharing things like this so I look up to people who do.

I also think that you would be able to make a sonnet or an epic about your chameleons. I promise you I only said those things out of respect, though I wanted the tone to be lighter. I'm sorry, I'd change my post for you but you've already quoted it...

Dont knock the forked tongues , Since I am,
Of both snakes and goanna's, A fan,
Not one devious word, Have I ever yet heard,
come from either, but only from Man!

:D
