A Little Too Cold vs A Little Too Warm (exo terra)

I've been keeping my plants in the exo terra 18x18x24 before i get my cham to make sure i'm doing everything correctly first and to be certain i can keep the plants alive. The terrarium is currently in my bedroom, which is the warmest toom in the house, averaging at about 74-76. I will be purchasing a panther in a few weeks.

After about 10 or so days of experimenting, I've noticed that the cage is either a little colder than recommended or a little too warm. here's the numbers i get with various situations:

-no basking light and no fan, temperature gradient is about 74ish (bottom) to 78ish (top).

-no basking light with fan pointed directly at the cage, temperature gradient of roughly 70 (bottom) to 78 (top) but then i require two mistings during the day.

-basking light on and no fan, it gets up to 78 at the bottom, 80 at the top, and 82-84ish at the "basking spot" (i measured the highest point accessible by vines/branches without hanging from the top mesh). i feel like this is a little high for a baby panther (i'm looking at one approx 3-4 months of age)

-basking light on with fan pointed directly at cage, bottom about 74 and top about 81 as well as the basking spot hovering around 81. this required almost 3 sprays but i can manage with just 2 if i space them well and soak for a little longer.

now, i know this isn't completely relevant since this will all change when the cage goes into the basement where its much colder and i can actually use the basking light more efficiently, but in this current scenario, which would be better? shall i make it a little "too cold" or "too warm"? i just want to know for when and if i decide to continue using this exo terra thing later on for other species or if i run into a similar situation once its moved.

also, sorry for the wall of text, and if that doesn't make any sense. i'm incredibly tired and had very little sleep for several nights
