A few questions about panthers?

Hi there I have a few questions about Furcifer pardalis aka Panthers.

How do you tell the difference in Locals in the females?,Can you? As to me they all look the same, pinkish in colour etc?If you can i Assume its very hard?.And to do with Barring and slight colours ?

Also the different areas in Madagascar are where the different locals are from,

So say an Ambillobe and a Ambanja which are near each other, surely you get the two different meeting each other and breeding, causing cross breeds?

How do they stay clean locals as they must be all mixing etc? hope that makes sense lol

i think they keep the locales as pure as they can by only introducing wc chams that posess strong traits that the locale is know for. the most blue nosyb's, the u bar on the sambavas... you know what i mean. as for the females, ive only compared nosyb & ambis but from what i can tell, nosyb females seem to have circles along the horizontal lines & the ambis seem to have more obvious barring. beyond that, im in the same boat as you.

Yes. Buy only from a reputable breeder, if it matters to you what local a female is.

Hi thats what i was thinking surely there must be loads of mix up's accidently going on, from people who are not sure exactly where there female came from etc, passed from different owners, then there is going to be hybrids out there who are made to look like true locals,

Thats why whenever possible when buying a female have a look at the sire and dame. Esp if you have any future plans on breeding her.

Some of them do have differences that you can look for, but it still doesn't make it easy.
