My faly is about 6-6.5 months old now.

1. i feed him medium crickets for the most part. i feed him twice a day and i let him eat however many he wants to (usually 4-8 per feeding). does this sound about right?

2. i've tried just about every legal feeder insect i can possibly buy. he hates worms. i'm in canada so i dont know what else besides crickets and worms i can buy. he loves crickets, but every time i offer a worm, he reluctantly takes the first one, then fires up, runs away and refuses to eat another one. he'll only eat again if i offer crickets. when i do, he comes right to the front and fires away at every one of them. if i offer up a worm, same thing as before. he fires up and runs. what else should i try offering him? (my parents refuse to let me have roaches in the house)

3. i've seen him eating the leaves from the hoya plant quite a bit (i witness it at least 3-4 times a week). is it okay for him to be eating this much plant matter?

Theres a place out in BC that is going to mail me Blue Bottle Fly spikes,,,but not till Janurary unfortunately,,,but I still cant wait,,,,
I have been looking for someone in our area who migfht have roaches and other not so legal feeders,,,,damn canadian regulations!!!
If I find anything Ill certainly let you know,,,and if you do,,,please let me know!!!
Ill contact my breeder and see what he can get!!!

you say 4-8 per feeding. Is that one feeding a day? If so, you could be feeding him more than that. I would be giving him atleast a dozen a day to eat at 6 months. You cannot force a chameleon to eat something he does not like. As long as you are gutloading your crickets well then so be it. Have you tried any flying insects like dragon flies or moths that you can catch yourself? I have read on here peoples chameleons that eat nothing but crickets are live just fine. We always say variety is key of course. As far as the plant, I would think by now if he has been eating it by now and has not become ill then it is safe. I don't know anything about the plant so I do not want say that it is possible over long term consumption he could not have ill effects. Maybe someone else knows about this plant and can comment.

i usually put about 12 or so medium crickets in the bag and let him keep eating as many as he wants to until he walks away. i hand feed so i know exactly how many he gets. like i just finished feeding him, and he walked away after 6 today. and no, this is not the only feeding. he will be fed again when i get home from school about 6 or so hours from now.

i have not tried any wild insects. my area is really bad for spraying chemicals to kill insects, not to mention we have quite a bit of factories really close by. its pretty late in the season as well. just about everything is starting to die off
