A "burning" question

So, as I continue getting my enclosure together and all dialed in before I get my cham, I came up with yet another question. What about the basking light? Does everybody just place it on top of the screen? If so, how do you prevent young chams from walking on the top screen and then getting burned if they sit under the light? Are the domes deep enough that they prevent this from happening? Please "enlighten" me.

First of all, nice pun. But i have my cages on racks so they just on the top metal rack above the cage, but for my large free range i hung the lights from the ceiling. I wouldnt let the bulb sit on top.

I guess I'll make something to hang it then. Good thing I'm handy like that...

If you can place your hand tight against the screen under the lights and not have to move it away or feel like it's too hot for the chameleon then the light should be OK.

^^ as stated above. If it feels too hot then hang it or prop it up on something fireproof to give it a little distance from the screen.
