I have a 5 or 6 month old female Veiled. I bought her from someone less than a month ago. shes very plump and when she walks it looks like she has egg outlines near her back leg joint. I put a bucket of moist sand in her cage but so far nothing. I put some of her food in the bucket to get her down to check it out. Also kind of weird, she is pooping in it.. like a litter box.. lol Easy clean up i guess because its all in one spot.. are there any signs of being egg bound? She is eating dubias and crickets.. I read not to over feed females so they wont make too many eggs... anyway to help coax egg laying? I also don't know if she was in contact with a male from the previous owner.. so if and when she lays the eggs, Ill do the incubation set up like i read.

If she's already producing eggs then its too late to cut her feeding back until a couple of days after she lays them.

Signs of being eggbound...sitting low in the cage, eyes shut during the day and phantom laying.

Please post a photo of her.

she is always up high in the cage, very active walking around during the day, but never at the bottom. (I have a camera on her cage so i can check on her when I'm at work..) Her eyes are never closed. she is super skiddish. I don't think she was handled much by the previous owner. I am trying to take her out for small periods of time to get her comfortable with me. When she sees me she puffs up her body but doesn't hiss or open her mouth. Only time she hissed at me was when i moved my hand and lightly pushed her tail against a pillow.. lol her tail is already bent at the end so i think shes scared her tail will get crushed again.. she hates her tail being touched.

Pic is from a few days ago.. I am at work now.

She doesn't sound egg bound at all, and even though she may look like she's ready to pop she may not be. I would be prepared for the stress to possibly cause issues though if she needs to lay. Egg bound signs are pretty obvious, she will be unusually lethargic, show pretty much no appetite, sleep during the day and trying to push eggs out that obviously aren't coming. I mean you WILL know something is off if you are observant enough this doesn't even have to be your second chameleon female or male. Just her normal behaviors should stop and more unhealthy behaviors should be more prevalent.

alright, yeah she is still super active.. i have a camera on her cage.. when i get home from work she is sometimes at the bottom of the cage roaming around now and she is digging in the peatmoss dirt stuff.. i gave her a bucket of sand... a few days ago i mixed the peatmoss stuff in with it so its fluffier now but still wet enough to burrow... again she poops in it.. but no digging so far.. there were a few lil hand prints tho.. so i dug and there was nothing yet.. just waiting... I got her a 2x2x4' screen cage... but i need to set it up still and want to wait til well after she lays her eggs to move her so i dont stress her out.

By the size of her poops I dont think it could be possible to be eggbound.. lol I watched her poop the other day and was like OMG its hugeee  lol

Love the poops, we all do weirdly, it's when they aren't doing it at least once a week that we all start to worry XD. What size is your bucket? She may not like it?

Im prepared to get torn apart.. ok, so.. Bucket is 8"x8"x8" deep but filled w 7" sand dirt mix.. i know its on the small side.. gotta move stuff around to maybe fit something bigger.. cage is 24x18 footprint.she is only about 4" body length. She just finished eating at 5pm so she looks a lil fat in the pic.. (i do lights on at 9am and off at 9pm) so i can hand feed her after work and she can still bask and digest) she gets a few dubias in her bowl b4 i leave for work also then hand feed her dubias and crickets after work.
And i know not to have a glass terrarium.. i gotta set up my screen 2'x2'x4' cage and mist system next week. The glass holds the humidity easier for now w a fogger and i spray in morning and multiple times after work. Doors are open most the time im home to air it out also.

The type of terrarium you have isn't a bad glass version. The best actually for commercial purchase, but I do think she will probably need a much larger lay bin.
