4 mo old panther

I recently purchased a 4 mo old sambava x ambilobe panther from kammerflage at the SD reptile super show. I am a first time owner of a Panther Chameleon. Ive noticed that he bites his branches. Is this normal? He only does this on his free range area. When he is in his cage he doesnt do this.

Im not really sure. Just a common tree/ bush we have around our condos. I baked it and put it through the dish washer before he got to use it. I can get a pic of it and put it on here and maybe someone can tell me.

Im actually not sure I'm not gonna lie.. I've never seen my two panthers do that? Maybe one of the senior members can help a little more... It doesn't sound odd to the point of being bad though..

to be on the safe side i'd make up a free range with pothos umbrella or a ficus just to be safe in case he gets the munchies again my one panther has chomped down on his ficus and my two new little ladies that i got a week ago are already leaving thier mouth marks on their ficus too. post pics!!!

Thats good to hear. I didnt know what to really think about it. Thanks for your guys help.

im in sd too, but got mine from LLL reptile..they chew on anything and everything..not sure why..its my first pair that chew this much..ive offerd them all kinds of "other" things to chew on(like squash, banana, watermelon, strawberry)they just want to chew stuff...seems normal, i guess..my female is now 9 months, and seems to be fins, and has stopped chewing on stuff as much..my 5 months old male still bites everything..

Here are a few of him. Hes really calm and relaxed already. Loves to be held.

yeah its fairly normal...i guess the only thing i could compare it to is how dogs chew on bones...one of mine when she was younger would chew on her biovine and thrash her head back and forth...just make sure your little guy doesnt bite off a piece and ingest it, that could lead to impaction

Nice pics thanks for sharing . my female panther takes a lick of her branch before she steps on it , She also used to chew her vines so we removed them cos she was proper chowing down on them

not to question the kammers but he looks a lil bit older than 4 months , more like close to 6 months but he could one fo those "pick of the litter" males that just grow huge from the get go

i was thinking the same thing...never done business with the Kammers, but only heard good things...i wonder how they get their chams to grow and color up faster than everyone else

Thank you. Your blog was great. Im learning new things everyday. From all that I have read, I think I have him set up pretty well. I have definitly seen some really crazy nice cages on this forum that mine doesnt compare to, but im just getting started. :D Thats why I named him "hollywood". He lives a celebrity life style, and cost a pretty penny!! :)
