i put the eggs in that container as in the pics i poked few hole in there and but it in a warm dark place it was there for an hr i wen just to see if its warm enough and i saw that the container was holding moister and the walls of the container were wet as well as the lid is this normal..??can i have some advice for the eggs..i also have them in play sand...please give me advice on how to do rite by these eggs

would regular pet store have hatch rite?what about the moisture in the container is that normal?

You can get hatch right off of King Snake... The other two you can get at a home improvement store... It is REALLY important that you get them the correct sub asap... Soon you wont want to move them much... Now that you just have the eggs put alot of focus. well... nay... ALL of you focus into the eggs now that you have lost the cham... Common man! Man up and get them damn things to hatch! They look like really nice eggs...

ok rite now i have them in the sand and the container i have in the picture i put them in my boiler room where its dark and the temp is 83.3 F on thursday 10/18/07 im going to get vermiculite and 2 bigger containers and split the eggs into two bunches...if im doing somthing wrong let me know pleae with the temps and i also want to make sure that i have th correct airflow in the container so i dont know how many holes to make i read that you just have to put two holes in the lid of a container im not sure if that would be enough airflow

the local nursury should have vermaculite and or perlite... walmart in my town had perlite... 5$ for a rather large bag of it.... the moisture on the sides is ok as long as you cannot pinch a fingertip sized ammount and get water drops... and I think your doing the right thing by waiting on a new pet,,, give it a little while and read learn and grow from your mistakes, the things youve learned and the great help that some of the folks helped you with, you will get back into the swing of things and some day have another pet for yourself.. Hang in there..also you need to be at or around 82-88 degrees, or thats what mine were and hatched out...

So what actually happened? Did she lay the eggs in a hole? Dropped them on the floor of the cage? Vet induced?

she poped out 3 eggs and i saw them and then she stopped moving so i got upset and walked away and then when i came back i saw all these eggs and saw her slouched to the side with her tongue out and thats it she was gone

ren i live in brooklyn and its very big i dont really have a locale nursery i also just read about hatch rite so i think im going to order that instead...i think the eggs should be fine in the boiler room because its warm and dark in there

hairfarm sorry im doin homework while answering nope no hole she was on a branch less than a inch off the sand and just dropped them

Wow. Can't say I've ever heard of that happening before. As for the eggs, you really should try to get them out of the sand ASAP. Vermiculite is cheap and easy to find. I've used it for 15 years, never bred anything but chameleons, and never had a problem with it. Also, 88F sounds a bit high for dilepis. I'd probably try not to let them go above 82F.

Can you tell us a bit about how you transported the eggs from its resting position as she laid them to how they are in your box of sand right now?

NO HOLES!

Here's my short and sweet summary:
1: Get those eggs in damp vermiculite (available at WalMart, Lowes, Ho Depot etc). 2 parts vermiculite to 1 part water. You should not be able to squeeze any water out of the vermiculite. Just damp. Bury the eggs about half way and DON'T rotate them when you are transferring them to the new container. Mark the top with a pencil if needed.
2: NO HOLES! Have I said that already? Keep the lid on the container for the duration of incubation. Opening the container up "just to look" changes the humidity and air levels that effect the eggs negatively.
3: Keep the containers in a dark, warmish spot. (A closet works for me! Don't let people tell you incubators are better, they aren't) If you want to err on the side of caution - a cooler incubation is always better. It takes a but longer, but it is effective. Try to aim for 82F
4: Incubation times are anywhere from 3 months to a year.
5: Hatchrite is a waste of money!
6: Good luck.
