3 month old veiled not eating

My 3 month old male veiled chameleon is has not eaten today, nor did he eat yesterday. Im not sure what is wrong with him. I wanted to check here before taking him to a vet, as i do not know how serious this could be. he also seems to be sleeping a lot during the day.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you just got him I would give him time to adjust and keep an eye on him. Mine was like this when I got her from petsmart. If he was shipped maybe it was stressful trip.
 
Sleeping during the day is a bad sign though, could you fill out the 'how to ask for help' form and maybe someone can help better -

Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?

Also, i just found this and am including it to help anyone who might be able to offer some help:

Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? almost every day.. usually in the evenings when i come home from work i mist his cage, he climbs up to me, and puts his hands up, so i take him out..

How are you gut-loading your feeders? i've fed him crickets, just bought him some waxworms (which he ignores), i've tried feeding him a bit of fruit, (but he also ignores that). he eats about 6 - 8 crickets a day. i gut load the feeders with "Zilla - gut load cricket and insect food"
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? i dust with "Fluker's Calcium" with vitamin D3 about once a week.
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking? i mist about three times a day, about 30 - 45 seconds.. i've never seen him drinking
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? since i got him, and up until he stopped eating, it was brown with white at the end. i dont think he has been tested for parasites.

Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? it is a glass cage 12 in. high x 20 in. long x 10 in. wide. i am getting a taller, screen one at the end of the week that my friend is giving me.
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? i am using a "Zoo Med" HB-50 UVA bulb. 50 watt during the day, and a ceramic bulb during the night. (produces heat, no light). his lighting schedule is 9 am to 9-10 pm
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? i try to keep the cage at a little over 80. i have a thermometer
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? i try to keep humidity at around 40-60% i have a hygrometer
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? no live plants yet, but i will get some soon.
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? i keep the cage on top of a desk, but i just read that it should be higher, so i am currently looking for a new place to put it
Location - Where are you geographically located? i live in Minnesota


Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about. He has not eaten in two days... is this normal?
 
He might want some variety, roaches, Phoenix meal, silk worms, mantis, occasional wax worm all gutloaded well thats what i feed. Still looking for more
 
At his age he should be eating 12 to 15 small crickets a day. What size crickets are you feeding him? If your weather permits some outside time, not in the direct sun, works wonders for these guys. You just have to be careful with the little ones because they over heat quickly.

You have a few things that you need to change in your husbandry such as gut loading, supplementing and lighting. I'm attaching my blog for new keepers below so you can see the things that you need to change. Also they need to be cool and dark at night. At least 10 degrees cooler than the day time so unless it's cold in you house, no heat bulb at night.

my friend has brought over a couple types of worms (i dont remember what theyre called, theyre brownish), but he ignores all worms... is there a complete list of feeders i can try to give him?
 
i usually give him about 10, but he only eats like 6-8.. i give him meduim crickets.. the store by my house only sells meduim and large, but he eats these with no difficulty.
thanks you for your blog, i'll check it out and try to change accordingly. i'll get rid of the heat night bulb.. what should i change in gut loading and supplementing?
 
The problems I see are the lack of not seeing him drink while misting him, giving him D3 vitamins once a week and that you don't have a UVB bulb.

Other members might have tricks to get him drinking.

You should be giving him Calcium without D3 every day and Calcium with D3 once every two weeks.

The UVB bulb is a must. Without UVB the chameleon has a lower ability to absorb calcium and vitamins; it also lowers the metabolic rate making them less likely to eat.
 
ok, calcium without D3, find out how to get him to drink, and a UVB bulb. got it.. what is the difference in UVB and UVA? (as far as how it affects them, what type of light it is, etc.)
