3 month old panther biting the fake plants!

I have noticed lately my 3 month old panther chameleon is biting the fake vine I have in his cage. He might have eaten tiny pieces of it already! I have caught him biting it during the morning hours when he first wakes up and a couple of other times during the evening.

He has an enormous appetite, so sometimes I think that's his way of saying "feed me!" He spends a lot of time on that branch and sleeps on it just about every night. But, should I take it out? I don't want him getting sick from eating the fake leaves!

Haha, I remember that exact same thing happening when I brought home my then baby Veiled; he was biting on fake abutilon. I don't think you would have to worry about him actually eating the fake leaves but just check over them to see if there are missing pieces, and if so you may wish to remove so he doesn't eat them.

Cham's can try to eat plants to attain extra water. He may be thirsty. How often do you mist? Try getting some live plants, they will help with humidity and if your cham eats a safe plant it will be fine.
