25w flood light? Calling flood light users.

I keep seeing people talking about using 25w flood lights? Are they using the tiny ones? I cant find a 25w flood light.

On my new enclosure setups I want to savior all the space I can. So I need a small basking dome, I was wanting to use this one http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/terrarium_fixture.php.

And wondering what wattage and how far away these need to be, I am sort of space limited, height wise.

So for females people keep saying use 25w floods. Where is a 25w flood lol.

This is what I am trying to achieve for the record.

This is what a 35 watt halogen flood looks like but this one is dimmable? so you might be able to use this one http://www.lowes.com/pd_442089-75774-L35PAR30SQFL2_1z10hte__?productId=50109744&pl=1

I dont want dimming as dimming halogens is not good from what I have read they turn brown colored and stuff.

I was looking at LYRs, they have smaller fixtures and tiny lights that go in them. However I am not sure if they put off a large enough cone or enough heat?

this is what I am talking about, http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/ceiling-mount-mini-dome-3-75/ comes in a 50w and a 35w.

also not sure the temp gradients on those. Would the 50w produce 90f and the 35 83ish.

Depends on the halogen, I am sure. Certain halogens produced as basking lights for reptiles I've noticed tend to be warmer than any other halogen I've messed with. I've used I think a 75 watt halogen specifically for reptiles and it produced a lot more heat than it should have. But then again it was a less reliable company than LYRs. I would assume the LYRs halogens are similar to the halogens you find in hardware stores where they produce more heat than incandescent bulbs but don't cook your chameleon if your careful. Did you ask Todd? What his temps read with the two different bulbs? You can always buy test bulbs and then return the ones that don't work for you after you test them out on you thermometers?

I did PM Todd, about an hour ago but I dont think he is on atm. I will wait for his reply :), was just curious if anyone had any experience with them.

I also like the halogen Mini Dome by zilla, but it uses special bulbs and looks pretty focused. I want to make sure he gets enough basking spot light while saving top space.

I could fit a 5.5inch dome in the setup, but I would rather go with smaller as it gives more rain dome room :).

That is the reasoning I want the largest raindome I can possible make. So the whole cage rains (well most/alot of it).

I like the mini domes by zilla, I agree but the beam is extremely focused and because of that can be very warm if you don't go with the smallest wattage possible. I am using the second highest wattage on my Blue Tongue Skink and it gets him pretty easily in the range of his basking temps, which are in the higher 90 degrees. Plus with the zilla bulbs they are easily destroyed by the oils on your fingers and the prongs snap easily. However the bulb does last FOREVER XD. It's amazing, I've had Chronos 1 and 1/2 years and it's still going strong. So I would go more with a flood light that has more of an open beam and spreads more if you could.

Good to know, Todd just got back with me and said his do, flood the light. From his answers it sounds perfect for my needs :).

Its small good a good spread and not much wattage. Its on the money :).

I am going to grab one of the new ones next week he is getting in. If it works out like I hope once I finish the room and get my cages all setup, the end goal is to have 12 of them in use lol.
