24x24x36 Too Big for Veiled?

I have a 4 1/2" (head to vent) veiled and I want to upgrade her to a screen cage. I am looking at the ones on lllreptile and they seem like they have pretty good screen cages. Is the 24x24x36 too big, or could I even go for the 24x24x48?

I would prefer a 24x24x48 just bacause my chameleon loves it.I got mine from LLLreptile and its great!

At 4.5 months I put my Veiled in a 24X24X48-that is the ideal size for an adult unless you can go bigger!

For a female you could get the 24"x24"x36", If the larger cages are still on sale I would go for the bigger one.

My female veiled lives happily in a 16x17x30.
There is no need for a 24x24x48 for a female.
You can certainly house her in a huge cage if you have all kinds of room .... but it's not necessary.

If shes your only cham(and you have the space) than the bigger the cage the better...I've personaly kept veiled females in the 18''x18''x36''.

24X24X48 HERE. with room for laying eggs, plants, vines etc.. i think 36" is a tad small in my opinion, especially if she is large like mine.

I agree with brad. Most females dont do a whole lot of roaming unless theyre about to lay. If it were male i'd go with 2x2x4 but for a female 2x2x3 is plenty of room.

I believe there is a safety and security issue as well.
While my male enjoys patrolling his 24x24x48 enclosure ... securing the boundries, scouting for food and trespassers ... the female seems to enjoy hanging out in her favorite spot for most of her awake time.
The screen walls do offer her some sense of security and it is my feeling that being in a smaller enclosure gives her less to worry about and reduces her stress. She seems to prefer surveying her territory over patrolling it.
This is all speculative of course, but I've come to this conclusion through many hours of observation and from getting to know these animals.
You do (and we've talked about this before) start to get a sense for what they need over time that can't be explained ... you just have to develop it.
Keep in mind too that the cages are positioned high in the room (within a few inches of the ceiling) ... this helps them feel safe as well.

Yeah, now that you say that I think I'm either going to go with the 18x18x36 or the 24x24x36.

well said brad. Both my female veiled and panther do the same thing. They sit in one spot most of the day and although my female panther is more active than the veiled, they dont wonder near as much as the males unless theyre laying or hunting some silkworms i strategically place around their enclosure. The first thing that comes to mind with people debating is "well its no fair i put the female in a smaller cage" but honestly, they wont really use anything bigger and like brad said, they would rather survey than explore.
