2%UVB and mesh penetration?

I've been told by alot of people to use a max of 2.0% for my pygmys or a used 5.0% but i've been thinking what if i'm trying to penetrate through mesh? Would 2.0 be sufficient or should I go for a 5.0?

They live in the dark in the wild? I never heard of chams not wanting the natural sun to a certain degree. Plant foliage gives them cover, if you are worried, I dont mean 12 hours outside...an hour or two perhaps...I dont own pygmys personally but to say they dont like the sun is odd...IMO.

2.0 even through mesh is the way to go unless you have a well used 5.0. These guys are "close to the ground" dwellers and in nature do not get excessive amounts of UVB and are not really known to bask like the other chameleons. They also don't do well in temps higher than the mid 70's so putting them out in the sun could cook the little guys!
