Ok everyone I have purchased a enclosure the chameleon kit from repti breez to start off with but will be getting the bigger one next month but I want to put as many real live plants as I can in there besides the Fake Vines and stuff does anyone know where there is a list of safe plants for my chameleon. Also the type of chameleon I will be getting is c. Calcarifer. does anyone know anything about these? Plz let me know if there is anything else that I will need to get I greatly appreciate it!

Do you have confirmation that it's a Calcarifer? Is it WC or is someone breeding these? I suspect it's probably a normal Veiled chameleon - don't overpay for a mislabeled (or misleading) animal.

I'm with Lathis on this. Chameleo calyptratus calcarifer is an infraspecies that I personally have never seen. When speaking to knowledgeable people about this subspecies, their only argument over definitive differences is casque size. So you will probably pay more for the "subspecies" aspect and receive a chameleon that is apparently less grandiose than Chameleo calyptratus. This is just my opinion.

well $30 is what I am paying for it and he is 3 mo old but I really honestly don't care about the species as long as my wife is happy I am happy but I want to make sure whatever it is it will have a good home and the proper setup!

Also, when you get your enclosure together, post a pic and it will be easier for us to tell if something needs to be added or changed. Glad to know you're not getting bamboozled. Welcome to the Forums by the way!

Ha! I understand. Chameleons are no typical reptiles to keep so I can't imagine what you're feeling like seeing all this information needed for their care and trying to piece it together secretively.

right now im trying to figure out how to attach these fake vines I got b/c the suction cup that comes with it is not going to work lol im tired and having brain farts with this decorating stuff I just got the cage put together now im trying to decorate lol

Your enclosure is off to a good start. You will need more branches...horizontal especially and I would add a live plant to maintain humidity. Pothos is everywhere, so its a cheap and easy solution. Any of the methods mentioned are great for attaching branches. Personally, I have never been able to bring myself to poke holes in the cage. lol. This is a picture of one of my setups. I use magnets to hold everything in place. They are sturdy. I tested there strength with my Meller's Chameleon, Macumba. She pulled herself up from branch to branch and they never budged. Just a thought.
