So my chameleon arrived today (Blue barred ambilobe). HE looked great out of the box, etc. He just refuses to go where it is warmer in the enclosure. I am sure he is adjusting, stressed, etc. from being shipped. Should I be comcerned regarding the temps? The temp is around 75 and the basking spot is around 85-90. But he wont go near it and he is all darkened, etc. He was drinking earlier but would not grub at all. I know this is normal for the first day, but I was wondering what precautions to take. He is 4 months old. Any suggestions?

got my baby 3mo veiled today in from ohio, he was green until i took him outa the deli shipping cup. now he's all dark and basking with his mouth open(which cues that the light is too hot), but its not. they need to be left alone and such on the first day in their new home, relax, im sure he will be ok.

perhaps

put a cover over his cage and just let him get used to his new environment then slowly start lifting the cover as time goes on (a few days) and see how he does then. keep the water flowing and keep some cricks in there, peek in occassionally to see hows hes doing? is there a lot of stimulating things going on around his cage like pets or people walking by constantly? he may just be streessed/ ask the person you bought him from as youll probably get the right answer from him/her.
