there should be some sort of dial or knob maybe on the on off part do u twist to on? or something read ur directions! otherwise if its not got a dimmer either move it farther away or go to a lower watt bulb took awhile to come up with the right watt for my settup 60 is mine tried 40 to low 75 to high.

Here, and also a big worry for me, I got him a few weeks ago but took him home yesterday and when I was watching him his eyes would sometimes close then u can see the ball would poof out at one end....Is that some disease? Or any worry? I'm really afraid.

Chameleons will roll their eyeballs behind their lids to wash them out, like you'd rub your eyes when they itch, only that they have no hands. If he does this mainly after a misting or when he's gotten water in his eyes, then this is normal.

As for your light, the easiest thing to do if you bought a more expensive reptile heat bulb is to simply lift it up off the cage. You can do this by hanging the fixture cord from the ceiling and lifting or lowering it accordingly, clamping the light on something that's a little above the cage, or buying one of those cheap shelf things you'd get for a kitchen cabinet (for like $5 at Walmart) and resting the light on that. This last thing will lift your light off the cage by like 6" or more, if I remember correctly.

If you are just using a normal house-hold bulb for heat, find a bulb with lower wattage. So if you're using a 75w, for example, try a 40w and see where the temps are. And go lower or higher accordingly.
