I knew they could swim but I believe it's only in a life or death matter that they'd even bother to swim.

Is crossing a pond a life or death matter?
Chameleon can swim. and will do so to escape from predator or to cross certain area just like the one in the Netherland Chameleon forum. I believe the owner did not put the chameleon in the pond. It swam there intentionally. There is another thread in the same forum that show the progression.. but, I cannot find the link

But, do they jump into a body of water at the sight of it like a labrador? And the answer to that is NO.

Very interesting! I've never seen much research on this so all there was to do was assume, hah!

I just went swimming today.. was quite enjoyable.. would have been better if the water wasn't freezing.

its funny because my cham likes chillin on a hibiscus by my pool and my dog (boston terrier) came and sniffed at him because he was climbing down the tree to explore and my cham bit her nose lol

Hahaha, that would have been funny to see . It's hilarious how some chams think their big and macho, especially my little carpet.
