What kind of water do you guys use?

http://reptiles.guru/chameleon/tap-water-chameleon/ As for 'ro wasting water' the average city loses 30%-75% of its water through its poor infrastructure. http://www.npr.org/2014/10/29/359875321/as-infrastructure-crumbles-trillions-of-gallons-of-water-lost Wasting a few gallons a month is...

    Mistking timer retains water

Yeah, this is 100% your fault and not Mist King. If water is getting in the timer, it's a risk of getting into what the timer is PLUGGED INTO. Don't bad mouth a good company because of your own mistake....this is a huge pet peeve of mine when I see bad comments on Amazon and elsewhere when the...

Cist? Burn? Bite? What is this????

Burn. The ooze is like pus. Looks like his whole spine is burned (that's he black line)...as well as his upper sides (the dark discoloration). I have seen chameleons spines slough completely off from burns that started like this (they do not grow back)....you want to adjust your heat bulbs.

Could I use a cuttlebone to provide calcium to my cham?

It's a slippery slope, I and several other keepers here had sever issues and some deaths from using the original Repashy Calcium PLUS.... after the discussion here, which Allen Repashy was a part of, he remodified the formula to the one with a Jackson's chameleon on the label, whichis Calcium...

Fbook page telling me im horrible for buying a chamelon glass tank

DO NOT LEAVE HIM UNDER AN AIRFLOW VENT You want PASSIVE airflow, not FORCED airflow.... http://reptiles.guru/chameleon/ultimate-chameleon-care-guide/ and http://reptiles.guru/chameleon/chameleon-cage-gadgets/

Could I use a cuttlebone to provide calcium to my cham?

I'm not sure if you've heard of this new thing....it's called www.amazon.com You can get every kind of proper calcium there, including the highly rated Repashy products. Cuttlebones might do the trick if you were raising a chameleon in the 1970s before anyone knew anything about them.......

I think my Panther Chameleon is too small...

IMO the original baby photos should be opposite.....the one that died looks like the male. She is small for 8 months, but I and everyone else have produced runts at one point or another...runts are not uncommon. The good news is she looks healthy.

    Branches from outside

Mites will be a problem if you are using a branch........from Africa. So many mites and parasites are host specific, from the regions of origin. Arbutus, willow, oak......there are many you can use untreated. A simple hose down outside is fine, and leave them to sit for a few days in the...

New Cham owner, having a hard time hydrating.

It looks healthy but the cage is barren. So many chameleon keepers brag about the 'size' of their enclosure.....while providing poor infrastructure within the enclosure. You should have a hanging pothos, or a pothos on the ground trailing up. A schaeflerra plant is always a good addition to...

    Sexing This Chameleon

Whoever told you this was a boy.............. don't listen to anything, NOTHING, they say about chameleon care. Sexing Veileds is a foolproof straight out of the egg.

Fbook page telling me im horrible for buying a chamelon glass tank

Also have to say that the 2-3 month old stage would be the most sensitive to doing things wrong..... so it's better to change this immediately. 'Until I can get the open one'..... you should have had the open one before you got the chameleon! I don't know the exact circumstances, but there's...

Fbook page telling me im horrible for buying a chamelon glass tank

Bashing is a suitable term for this kind of tank....Yes, this is bad. Very bad.... So bad in fact that....... Just kidding. Glass is fine, however you're just doing it wrong. Most chameleon keepers will rag on you really hard for mentioning the 'G' word, but I use glass and so does Chris...

Why You Should Never Use Tap Water For Your Chameleon

Beer, wine and spirits intake used to be equal to or greater than water intake for most people (including children) for the last 7000 years up until the mid 19th century when chlorine made its first appearance in water treatment after John Snow (yes, his real name) traced a cholera outbreak to...

Why You Should Never Use Tap Water For Your Chameleon

As I mentioned, in this business I am shocked every single day of the studies coming out proving how bad tap water is. Here's a new study out yesterday showing industrial contaminants in the water of 6,000,000 Americans: http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/09/health/contaminated-water/ Also in the video...

    Substrate or no?

I am not so sure why everyone is against substrate when apparently moist towels are fine? Moist towels are a sponge for bacterial growth whereas a properly executed substrate will have a microbiome that will break down poop within a few days. The issue is in the formula....any old 'soil' will...

    mist king question?

For average indoor use, you can do anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes I find is sufficient. Drying period of 2-3 hours seems to do the trick but this can vary wildly depending on your climate. Outdoor spraying can last several minutes or more - many people who keep their chams outdoors will...

    mist king question?

What works for one person might not work for you. It depends on your climate, do you use AC/Heating, is the cage near a draft, etc etc? You want to play around with this to get it right.... the basic rule I follow is....saturate the environment until substantial droplets form on the leaves...

She only mists once a day?

Yes I agree that for a veiled, this is okay to mist once a day - provided there is a dripper AND LIVE PLANTS. Live plants will keep humidity up and ensure moisture stays around for longer, especially if only misting once a day. It also depends how long and thorough the misting is - tell her it...

    Bubbling in mouth

I'd say so. I would think there is always some level of fungus/yeast in digestive tracts in most animals. I don't know what candida *overgrowth* symptoms would be in a chameleon though?

    Bubbling in mouth

This can be a respiratory infection if it happens when SHE IS NOT BEING SPRAYED. It looks like she is being sprayed in the photo, and this could just be a mucus bubble from the proteins in her saliva. This can happen if she is sprayed too much directly without a proper chance to breathe...
