    New setup for our Ambilobe

I use florists wire to hang the vines...get it at michaels, walmart, wherever. Put it through a hole in the mesh, around the vine, out the other hole, and just twist it together! No tying necessary :) It isn't very noticeable either.

    Homemade wet cricket chow...thoughts?

I definitely need to remember to add egg next time. Maybe I'll thaw it out and just add some now!

    Bedtime/Awake Times?

I just have a timer on from 8-8. I'm not sure what time he actually gets up (I get home from work at midnight, usually am not up for the day til 8:30/9), but he seems to go to bed as it gets dark outside, usually about 7:00-ish.

    Homemade wet cricket chow...thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback! I like the idea of using ice-cube trays...convenient! I hadn't even thought of that! (Although I make some frozen dog treats in ice-cube trays...puppy vs. crickets?) I wish I were able to make it often enough to feed fresh...but the problem with using a lot of...

    Homemade wet cricket chow...thoughts?

Hey all! I just created my first cricket wet gutload. I blended up some dandelion greens, bee pollen, zucchinis, carrots, and clementine orange slices. I did add some water to help things blend...but had I blended the zucchini first, that wouldn't have been necessary. Anyway, it...

    Moths vs worms

Are there any significant nutritional differences between feeding larvae and moths? I have a few cocooned wax worms (I only used the worms as a bribery treat when I first got my cham, and had several leftover). Are the moth forms any healthier than the worms are? Different fat content...

    Skittles, out and about

Thanks, all! He's about 8 months old, I believe, and I got him at the NARBC in Chicago last month from Julie tenBensel at Windy City Chameleons (Chamo Wear Inc.) I hope to eventually get him a lady friend, and get some gorgeous babies!

    Skittles, out and about

So my new (and first) cham Skittles has just recently started wanting to explore outside his cage. For the first time this week, if I open the door to his enclosure, he eventually crawls towards it, and makes a beeline across the floor to my table filled with plants. He spent about an hour...

    Frustrated by constant false information.

Off topic, but I love that first picture you posted. The reddish reflection of the light makes you cham look like she(he?) is wearing lipstick and puckering up for a big smooch, lol.

    chameleons are like crack

I just got my first chameleon...I had no idea how addicting they would be!! I've only had him for a week, but I'm currently planning how I can rearrange my apartment to make room for some more cages. There should be an addiction warning on the care sheets. "Surgeon General's Warning...

What did you name your chameleon and where did you get him/her?

I just got my 7-ish month old male Panther chameleon last week at the NARBC in Chicago. I'd been eyeing them for quite some time, and finally decided to go for it. He is my first official reptile (besides childhood rescued turtles, snakes, etc...) My boyfriend breeds crested geckos, and has a...

    Misting Systems with Mesh Cage?

Thanks for the advice! His urates are looking pretty good from what I've seen so far, so I'll just keep an eye on them and not worry so much. Thanks for the shower curtain idea...off to get a few 99 cent ones today from Ikea. I've been looking at the Mist King systems, and come next...

    Misting Systems with Mesh Cage?

Hi, I just got my first chameleon (panther) this weekend. I'd been researching and planning this for a while, but now that he's home, I've found I have a few more practical questions. Skittles is a 7 month old, male Ambilobe living in an aluminum mesh 18"x18"x36" cage. He has some...
