    Outdoors in central FL

Curious to anyone finding a certain species that might work better for keeping outdoors as much as possible in the FL weather. I imagine the montanes to be the worst, or at least for the cooler ones like quadricornis. Most of the time its too hot, even here in the tampa area.

    chillin on house plant

i havent taken any pics of him for a while. Even though these came out crappy he was pretty happy to get out of his cage and showing bright coloration so here he is.

im guessing this is no good

something else i read leads me to believe these guys are toxic or something, but, what the hell, i'll ask just to make sure. my cham is looking hungry and i picked the stupid cheap shipping at ghanns cricket farm.

    montane pygmy chameleon?

this is the coolest cham i've ever seen http://www.flchams.com/inventory/AccuminatisMale.jpg I've probably already lost the battle on previously deciding I would keep just one cham, lol. I've been furiously reading up on pygmies the past couple of weeks, and have that awesome care sheet...

    drainage pan from LLL

just wondering if this is worth getting, I posted a pic to show how I drain right now, when i moved the cage onto this stand i realized it was a great way to catch the water. as you can see the plasic drawer fits nicely, hanging out enough so the water has a place to drip into. unfortunately...

    humidistat

just looking for where i can get something that shuts on/off a device automatically depending on the humidity. the only thing i could find on LLLreptile was a very expensive combined thermo/humidi for 74.95

    humidity readings

I used to have something that stood on the floor of the enclosure, a digital therm/hygro combo, basically sold as a tool for incubating..eggs I guess, it just says "incubator" on it. it was recommended for reptiles too, so I thought it would be ok. anyway, it just seemed way too easy, I was...

    weird behavior

i accidentally brushed one of my fingers against my chams tail today when I was trying to get him to eat another butterworm (apparently he hates them), and as I expected, that caused him to take off instead of just sitting there staring at my hand. but instead of stressing and hiding, he...

    butterworm storing

how long do you think they'll generally keep at around room temp? I don't know if I'll be able to store them in the fridge, so I might just have to feed them off quickly, i'm sure they're no where near as hardy as superworms. also, that bedding leaves them covered in "sawdust", is that a...

    high-variety supplier?

i was going to put together an order of silks, butters, supers, and maybe a hornworm cup, from mulberry farms, but they're sold out of all the silks, besides small size. I have trouble finding any other place that sells that much variety. I think I might be out of luck, especially since a lot of...

    habba mist, has anyone tried...

..rigging it with a different nozzle? I just thought it might be possible somehow, and maybe it wouldn't be so crappy if you could fit it with a better "misting" nozzle.

    healthy cham?

I think this is definitely the clearest, best quality pic I've managed to get, so i'm taking this opportunity to ask if he looks in fair health. I have no idea if he may be a little too fat, thin, etc. i've had him for a month. there is a bit of stubborn shed on him, I wanted to pull that...

    quad eating leaves?

and he wasn't just "nibbling", he plucked an entire ficus leaf and munched it up! i've been hearing an unusual rustling the past few days, and this is the first time i checked it out, so maybe this is something he's been doing. that couldn't be a sign of anything wrong, right? I know chams...

    chameleon dust, etc?

what is that "chameleon dust" made by t. rex? i saw it on LLLreptile, I was actually wondering about a lot of the supplies there that seem convenient, but maybe far from necessary. Does anyone make use of that stuff for their chameleons, such as the Zoo med Wipe Out 1 for wiping the bottom of cage?

    a mouthful

man, those hornworms are tough! the first one held on for dear life, but my cham eventually ripped him off the fake leaf with force, lol. now the one he's eating in the pic was actually a little smaller, but I think they were both too big. He seemed to take his time swallowing them, unless...

    bask or no bask?

I just tried using the 60 watt day glo bulb for my quad's 4 foot high cage. a probe right near the basking bulb (3 or 4 inches above the branch closest to the bulb) shows a reading of 76-77 on the digi. On the floor of the cage stands a digi therm/hygro that says 61 degrees, so I dont know...

    help, quad/montane owners

I'm wondering what everyone's feeding/supplementation schedule is for montanes, i hear they are sensitive to being given too much of either. He must've eaten somewhere around 10 silkworms today (maybe more even? could be too small silkies), and this is going to be the staple feeder. Probably...

    the new quadricornis

here he is, I didn't want to take him out yet so I tried getting the best pics I could of the shy guy. In the second to last pic you'll notice his broken horn, i guess you can't do much about shipping incidents like that :( regardless, he is awesome :D I still need to get his "full" setup...

few quest. while waiting for cham

I'm waiting on a Quad to be shipped from FLChams, and I want to make sure everything will be correct. first is regarding humidity, i have the plastic, circle zoo med gauge that uses a needle for reading. How accurate/useful can this be, should I just trash it and buy something else? Testing...

    refrigerating eggs

I couldn't find the option to add the cold pack and styrofoam container on silkwormshop.com, it also says you cant refrigerate the eggs unless you do. why not? I definitely was not planning on hatching 250 at a time. what about the food they sell? it looks wet almost, should I be keeping it...
