Yeah, I didn't add anything about my lighting, because I didn't think that was part of the issue, but I have a 60 watt for basking, and a 5.0 UVB linear.(temps from 73-86)
He does get a variety of feeders(hornworms, silkworms, superworms, and crickets), but he hasn't gone for any worms in the...
* Your Chameleon - male jackson, probably about 1 year old. Has been in my care 6 months now.
* Handling - At least two times per week, and he is usually always happy to be handled.
* Feeding - Was feeding 5-10+ small/medium crickets until 2 months ago when he shed and immediately...
I'm fairly certain that all dichroic lamps are made with glass. I'd like to hear some readings of UVA and UVB from someone who has a UV meter though.
Dichroic lights produce a lot of heat, so I think it's interesting they found a positive use for that heat, by just including a fan.
No, I actually don't drink distilled water. I'm not sure how quickly the pH levels drop, but I know they do. Since distilled water is void of everything but water it has the ability to absorb gases from the air. Once it absorbs carbon dioxide it slowly becomes carbonic acid. If I had some...
What about pH of distilled?
Would a pH of about 5 be a problem though. Because, if I am not mistaken, distilled water is only at a pH of 7 when actually distilled. Once exposed to air, it becomes carbonic acid at about pH of 5.
Sorry Panther Man, I'd be upset too. I was going to raise the mantis to at least 2-3 inches as feeders, but decided to just keep some as pets instead. I wouldn't feel bad feeding them to my cham it's just too much work(in my opinion) to keep a good supply on hand.
By the way, I ordered my...
Well, I decided to start a dubia colony less than a month ago, without thinking that I would be going home for a considerable time during the summer and no one in the family wants dubias in the house.
So, I'm trying to figure out what to do with these and was considering selling them very cheap...
Just thought I would let everyone know that I ended up feeding house flies to the mantis hatchlings! Got back into town and saw that the house flies I ordered from spiderpharm had started hatching sometime in the past two days so I decided to put 2 flies in with about 10 hatchlings to see if it...
Can cricket crack be used as regular dubia food, and then just supplement with fresh fruit and vegetables? Or is cricket crack only to be used before feeding them off? Or is there not enough protein to keep the dubia healthy?
Thank you
yeah definitely raising for feeders. I figured only cultured should be fed, but it was worth a shot. Local pet shop doesn't have any ff right now, and I'll only be getting my cultures next week sometime. I'll try to figure something out.
Thank you though
Well, of course I had an ooth hatch unexpectedly early, and don't have any fruit flies. However, I have a compost pile that has lots of fruit flies, and was wondering if I could feed these until I got my culture. What kind of problems could I be facing?
Thank you
