My Jackson's has similar habits. I think he gets bored or something. He gets restless in the afternoon or early evening sometimes, and if I happen to open the cage, he makes a mad dash (in slow motion) for my hand so that he can get out. He doesn't seem to mind being handled at all. I'm going to...
No rain so far in Mesa. :( There was a really great storm here on Monday though. I think the monsoon season has been a little disappointing so far this year, but I guess its far from over yet.
I live in Arizona, so I'm worried that it might be a little too warm for them! During the summer, it's typically 100 to 100 degrees every day, and only drops down into the 90s at night. Can they withstand that kind of heat?
Thanks for the info! I've already got the tubes and misting nozzles, so I was hoping to just pick up a pump. I may go with a Mist King system down the line, but I think I might be able to find a pump for cheaper. I've got just one vivarium, so I don't need anything elaborate.
I've been thinking about creating an automatic misting system for my chameleon's enclosure. I already have some misting nozzles and tubing. Does anyone know if a pump needs to have a minimum psi to actually create a mist? Can anyone recommend one that is not terribly expensive and that has...
That's funny, I was thinking of doing the same thing. I actually went to Wal-Mart to look today, but couldn't find a drawer to fit inside my chameleon's cage. I didn't think of just situating the cage - sans floor piece - on the plastic drawer (thanks Chequepoint). I'm going to try either this...
What are the benefits of skipping days when feeding chams? Should this be done for all species or just certain species? How often should days be skipped?
I'm also wondering how much a typical adult male Jackson's chameleon should eat. Mine has been eating three to five food items each day...
That's so funny that he taunts the cats. :) I have a chameleon that pretty much stays in his cage all the time so the task of cat harassment is left up to my two cockatiels.
Thanks. No, the anoles are not food. :) I actually got them first. I've only had the Jackson's for about two weeks. Still haven't been able to come up with a name for him. I'm so horrible at naming pets.
I had my Jackson's chameleon out so that I could clean his cage the other day and I took some pictures. Here is the one that turned out the best.
He is more than a little perturbed at having his picture taken.
Here is a picture of one of my anoles. They used to love to...
