Hello! @kinyonga @MissSkittles @Beman
I hope you guys are all well and happy new year! :)
Little kiwi’s skin saga is still ongoing, I thought I would update the forum incase it helps similar situations etc
The vet did a surgical biopsy of the discoloured skin on his side, all tests showed no...
Hello and happy weekend! @kinyonga @MissSkittles
Unfortunately the skin issue on my little kiwi doesn’t seem to be getting better, although I know chameleons heal in strange ways so I would HUGELY appreciate your advice on next steps.
To note: he is eating / drinking / pooping as normal, no...
Hello lovely Cham owners,
Kiwi is no closer to a diagnosis, he has been seen by an exotic vet (with Cham experience) but they are undecided and therefore kiwi hasn’t been given any treatment so far.
It is day 8 since the marking appeared, it seems to be more white & defined but it is...
Thank you both! @kinyonga @MissSkittles
He is cup fed but I don’t give him crickets, he has dubia & silkworms as his staple bugs.
If it is a burn, will it heal on its on own or is medication needed?
The other unusual thing he has is no pigment on the inside of his front two hands. It’s...
Hello!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend :) @MissSkittles @Sonny13 @kinyonga
It’s day 4 since the markings on kiwi have appeared, I don’t think they have gotten worse but they haven’t gotten any better... The white maybe seems more pronounced but hard to say given he’s always...
Thank you, I really appreciate your time & expertise! Wow I didn’t know chams could bruise, that’s so interesting.
It could be a bruise as his missing tail does make him quite clumsy.
I will keep a close eye on it, fingers crossed…
Ah thank you! I think he is too but he has a sad back story…
A really awful keeper advertised him on GumTree as ‘free’ ‘must go today’ because he had lost half his tail and had multiple bite wounds. He was being kept in a small enclosure with over 10 other juveniles who had been bulling him...
Hi guys,
Hope everyone has had a good week!
My 2 year old panther has developed a strange patch on one area of his body - I would describe it as both white & dark.
Please see photos attached of:
- his healthy side for comparison (right side)
- left side with strange markings x 2
- close up...
Thank you Kinyonga, that’s the kind of explanation I was trying to find :)
(My dad uses a Britta for his fancy coffee machine, he’s going to be devasted when I forward this info :ROFLMAO:)
Hi Beman!
Thank you as always for being so helpful, you are the Cham oracle! :)
Great to know how often you replace the filter.
I have researched RO systems but read that they produce a lot of waste water so they can be expensive to run & slow to produce without good tap pressure?
I don’t...
Hello fellow Cham owners,
Happy weekend!
I am debating which method to use to purify my MistKing water and would really appreciate some advice :)
I know RO water is generally the purist to use but I’ve read some owners use a domestic water filter jug like this -...
Hi fellow Cham owners!
I hope everyone is having a good week so far :)
Just a quick one, I’ve been trying to find somewhere in the uk that sells RO water online / has a delivery service.
Anyone know a place?
Annoyingly I rent so I can’t install a tap fixture to make my own water and I no...
Okay @Beman your prediction was correct: the silicone works as an adhesive but it’s not strong enough to hold the tension the vinyl needs when stretched in the frame. I give up!!
I’m going to try solid PVC panels instead. Is there a specific type of PVC/acrylic sheeting that is enclosure...
IGNORE ABOVE - just checked the epoxy resin packet and it says toxic to marine life, so that’s a no go!
I’m going to try the marine vinyl with one more product then call it quits and switch to solid pvc sheets.
Do you know if the following would be safe / strong bonding?
- PVC pipe cement...
Hi @Beman :)
Yes I’ve got marine grade vinyl pvc, as you predict it’s proving really difficult to get an adhesive that works.
Epoxy glue sort of sticks BUT it has such a potent smell I’m worried about using it. Do you know if it’s safe to use inside an enclosure? (After it has cured/gassed...
It’s so frustrating! I can’t return it either because I painted it before I realised 🤦🏻♀️
It was so easy to customise before dammit… thank you I will try sanding!
Hiya Cham keepers!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend :)
I have just purchased a new reptibreeze to replace my current old one and noticed zoomed have changed the design of the panels - in a way that is causing a big problem in my attempt to replace the mesh screen with PVC.
I wanted...
Hiya!
I hope everyone is have a great weekend :)
Just a quick question, I never see my 8 month Cham drink because he’s still very shy. SO I have been monitoring his urates closely…
Is the attached okay or on the dehydrated side?
I would say it’s cream (maybe with a bit of orange?!) but I’ve...
Hi folks,
Happy weekend!
I am considering adopting a new male panther and came across someone with a mixed litter. Strangely, all 3 males are missing the ends of their tails, the 2 females are fine. The owner said the males nipped each other.
Is this a likely explanation? Would this cause any...
He
Totally agree, that’s why I wanted to gauge how serious it looks so I can emotionally prepare myself!
He has a dripper that he drinks from religiously so it was just his humidity that dropped when the mister was busted. I will ask the vet to look into both types of gout, thank you for the...
