Hi, Cham Fam!
I read a number of threads on here and wanted to summarize better upkeep of my feeders (namely, the superworms) because I am *fingers crossed* on the other side of an awful mite (most likely: grain mites) infestation when I got back home this past week after a few days away. I...
I checked the plants inside the enclosure and I see little bugs in the wet soil... I think these are okay? No bugs crawling on the leaves or branches inside the enclosure. I trashed the plants outside the enclosure bc a couple I was growing under the plant light, including a couple succulents...
I think I have spring tails all over a non-bioactive enclosure.
They're all over where I keep the roaches and the enclosure outside.
Is this a concern? I don't want them to infest my apartment.
Can I wipe down the area with Clorox wipes? How do I get rid of them?
Yeah, it scared the crap out of me when I saw it first thing in the morning. Never thought I'd see the hornworms transform. My veiled didn't eat it today, so we'll see tomorrow...
My enclosure is a hybrid Dragonstrand, so it isn't screen, either. I mounted the same feeder using their flat surface magnet attachment (linked here), which yes is overpriced on their site, so just copy what the website has by going to a hardware store and buying the type of magnet as mentioned...
I will add that I had already placed an umbrella plant beneath it and the calcium dust (very little) falls onto the plant (I'm not a fan of this, so I just spray the plant to try to get the calcium/supplement off). Also, I have to stick my arm in at a weird angle to dump the feeders into the FT...
I place mine away from the nozzle/water spray and on the other side of the heat lamp, I place branches around the cup so he can perch on the branch and look inside. Be mindful of how easily you want to be able to take it out, when needed, to clean or check for uneaten feeders and even plant...
I spent a while trying to identify it and I don't think it's an ALB, either. I was afraid it would be invasive, but I'll have to check the origin of the branches.
The ones I am sanitizing (large branches, unbaked) are still on my balcony, drying since I just treated with hydrogen peroxide. Thank you for the support. I am just extra cautious about ensuring the branches are completely sanitized because I rent my apartment and want to minimize any sort of...
I only bought the minimum size required bucket for my MK set-up and the MK is very efficient, so the sensor would be NICE for vacation, but I feel like I would prefer the sensor to monitor how much water collects post-draining my chameleon enclosure.
The supplier told me they couldn't heat treat with an oven last time (large ones), but sent replacement ones. I'm just taking it upon myself to rewash everything and bake (the ones that fit my apartment oven). Today, I saw some of those bugs still crawling around on the washed and dried large...
Hi, all! In lieu of creating a new post, I wanted to add to this post.
I ordered some various branches from someone and kept the branches in the box for a couple weeks (I live in the Bay Area, CA). When I opened the shipping box, I saw a couple bugs in there and was surprised. The supplier was...
