Yeah i definitely will not be using them as an everyday feeder. It was just an emergency purchase because i did not have anything else. She surprisingly ate them with no problem though.
Petco has been out of crickets for about two weeks now so I had to get my chameleon another type of food since she hadn’t eaten in a few days now. I got Can O’ Silkworms. Are these okay for chameleons? Are they nutritious at all?
I was just trying to feed my chameleon a black soldier fly and it flew out of the enclosure and is now loose in my room and I cannot find it. Will it just go and die somewhere or will it cause harm in my house somehow?
I hand mist my chameleon every morning and night and a lot of times i will mist her face a little so she licks the water off her lips. Maybe i should stop doing that though, i didn’t know they weren’t supposed to be misted directly.
My chameleon laid her eggs last week and had not gone to the bathroom for several days until today and it looked like this (see picture). That is by far the biggest her urate had ever been. Is that okay or normal?
How soon after a chameleon lays her eggs should you remove the laying bin from the enclosure?
Mine laid hers on Tuesday night, but she keeps going back down to the bin, so I’m not sure if i should remove it yet.
Thanks! I’m having a tough time right now in the middle of winter finding new plants that are viney enough for my new enclosure, so that’s why I’m looking for a vine. I have seen the exoterra jungle vines in petco and was wondering if they were good or not, thanks for the feedback. My veiled...
I dropped a black soldier fly larvae somewhere on a plant in my chameleon enclosure and could not find where it went. Are they okay to be left there? They won’t eat the plant or harm anything, right? I don’t want to have to tear the enclosure apart to search for it.
My ZooMed Daylight Blue Reptile Bulb just died after using it for two months and I need to get another heat bulb for my enclosure now. Do chameleons need this specific reptile bulb, or could I use a regular heat bulb that would work in my fixture? The ZooMed Daylight Blue Reptile Bulb at Petco...
I had a similar problem because i was putting too many in too small of a container. I put them in a bigger container with plenty of air holes and then they started lasting longer. Also, try picking out the dead ones right when you notice them, they get mushy and nasty if they’re dead in there...
I also have a veiled chameleon. I’ve had a laying bin in her cage for like four months thinking she was going to lay eggs any day. She hasn’t laid any eggs but still seems very healthy, she’s about a year old too.
This one is on sale for $35 when it’s usually $70, so that’s why i was considering it. If it is that bad quality though then i don’t think it would make sense to get it.
