Just wanted to update you all.
I took the tip someone gave me and went out to catch some wild butterflies, and to my great joy it seemed to catch his interest as soon as i let it into his cage and he ate it before i could even snap a picture of it!
Thanks you all for the great tips provided...
i might be overreacting to this whole situation with his bark eating, but in almost every historical thread i read when i search the forum history many react like the following comment. I guess there are alot of split opinion on this forum
Yep, he never touches feeders that are free ranging, he is litteraly basking together with the locusts under the lamb and they don't bother each other at all
This is the current supplement i'm using for almost every feeding, should containt all the nourishments he requires according to the staff at the store
These are the other minerals sold by my local pet store, anything recommended that could spark his appetite?
I'm not too sure stress is the reason, he happily climbs out on my hand if i offer him to get out of his cage to climb on his favourite indoor tree that he loves so he is kind of used to my hand, besides i work 12 hours shift where i fill his feeding cup up to let him tend to himself troughout...
I'm currently using a insect feeder made from a plastic bottle as shown in the picture below, however he seem less and less interested by it with every passing week and now he only just occasionally eats a mealworm or two from it. Today i tried mixing crickets, mealworms and a locusts in there...
Thanks, i'll see if i can find something to spark his appetite again!
Thing i forgot to mention is that he is unable to shoot his tongue. He has been like this since
i got him, think it's some sort of damage from when he was a juvenile that never healed properly.
It never stopped him from...
Thanks for the reply!
I havn't contacted a vet, mainly since there is not chameleon specialist in my country as far as i'm concerned. I get most of the advice from forums like this and from a book i bought.
Hmm i havnt been able to find the info you seem to look at, should it really be normal...
So unfortunately and with much sadness i have come to the decision that i might have to put my panther chameleon up for adoption since i cant seem to find a solution to he's bad habits involving his eating habbits.
Since the day i got him about 6 months ago he has always been a picky eater. I...
He is about 8 months old now, so i guess it makes sense i should start using it every other day. Thing is he usefully only eats 1 large locust every morning and so i dont think it gets as must calcium stuck on it as if i were to feed him say, 8 dusted crickets a day.
Hi and thanks for your reply, im using the sticky tongue farms miner-all for daily supplement, see picture in comment below. i didn't really dig trough it, will take a closer look if something similar comes out again. He has been eating alot today and is very active overall. this is quite a...
Hi and thanks for the feedback, ill fill in the for later tonight.
The supplement i am using is the sticky tongue Miner-all with D3, which from the info contains very low levels out D3 so that you could use it with every feeding.
I use the arcadia T5 lights with 12% UVB for lightning, i know...
I usefully feed him a large locust about an hour after he wakes up before i take off for work, the only changes in diet ive had recently is that i tried feeding him a dubia roach.
The feeders are covered in calcium with D3 and are gutloaded with collards, carrot and apples.
Never been checked...
This morning when i went to check on my panther his feces looked really strange, almost look he didnt digest his food properly id say? Anyone seen anything like it before? Apart from that he seems healthy
Thanks for the input, beautiful veiled there by the way!
I'm feeding him with tongs because his tongue is not working, he's been unable to shoot it since the day i got him and 90% of the attempts to hunt for himself fails miserably
Anyway he doesnt seem to mind my hand going in there to feed...
He shed about a week ago, funny thing is that these problems appear to have occured right after he finished shedding.
I also added a new plant to his enclosure the other day, dont know if that could have affected his mood
