Rub the sides of the mouth, usually they open them, or if worse comes to worse, slide a playing card or something similar into the mouth, and they usually open it. Well...this is what I do for my geckos anyway.
Normally, they are house separately. There was a period of time Commodore was with Rush to try and instill a better feeding response which worked. Though we noticed a scratch on commodore's tail so separated them.
Rush wore different colors...but we couldn't tell if it was breeding colors...
I'll keep updating this thread periodically.
A shower snapshot clearly shows the color differences.
Commodore our female, Rush the unknown blue, and Sarge our male.
Thanks guys!
I started to do it in pen and ink but I accidentally splattered ink across the whole thing, so I scanned it and did it on photoshop instead.
I've actually done some snake t shirts with another design I drew up. Though I dont have much of a place to screen print now. Though...
I figured the folks here would enjoy this ;) Not sure what thread to put this in though...
A line art drawing done to be made into a plate for letterpress printing. Too be used for some sort of card...I have no idea yet what ill print with it.
Panther chameleons because i'm enamored with...
My friends drove all the way up just to pick up some animals :o A nice pile of snakes, and my boyfriend got his long loved blue bar ambilobe pair from chromachameleons.
My melleri seemed a little stunned getting fed little crickets and supers, then suddenly a huge full grown hornworm, an actual decent size for them. They totally ignored silkworms, but after awhile took the hornworms. Though when they bit down it squirted out like a foot of juice  Also...
A word of advice,
I jumped into the world of reptile breeding and buisness way too fast a couple years ago. It's much easier said then done, and a lot of people don't tell you the hard side of things. I invested thousands of dollars and 20+ crested geckos in the beginning. I have since...
Yikes, that seems like it would end badly...I fed one of my melleri a frozen thawed rat pink once during a food shortage in the winter, but in comparison it was the size of a beetle for her. It seems to me like a cham could easily choke on any meal that large, let alone it being alive.
Another picture for you guys:
I'm going to try and get the two of them outside again next week, to get a comparison of the color.
The two are now together, after about a year of small meetings so it wasn't all of a sudden. After the female started to not eat and drank little, I moved...
Thanks, that site has been my bible for the past couple years. I was hoping to try and figure out gender clues from their actions, but i guess i'll have to keep guessing. No easy way to tell :P
Here's to hoping "he" is actually a boy. If anyone can point me in a direction to understand their body language when introduced let me know. There's various kinds of lobe flapping, though they are quickly separated if one shows stress.
That's fascinating about the locales. I haven't heard...
Kinyonga:Thank you, Rush has always been a good eater and drinker. Our WC female goes on random water and hunger strikes in comparison.
Jamncristian: Me too!!! I'm hoping so much Rush turns out to be a male for my older female. Though I have no idea how to tell, if not I'm going to be on a...
Hey folks, I have a WC female unknown age (Commodore) and a farm bred unknown gender Meller(Rush) that's nearly 2 years old. Well, from a baby Rush always has a bit of a teal color, like he held his baby colors much longer and it seems to be intensifying and I doubt its going to go green now. He...
They are incubating at around 69 degrees. I tried candling them but it didn't help too much. I seen a dark shadow which could either be a embryo or just the odd calcium structure of the egg. They were surrounded with yellow which again could either be the surrounded yolk or infertile. At this...
Thanks for the link, ill be reading it.
The other forum is here
The eggs look the same today, i'm still playing with heat to get the right steady temperatures.
I dont think she 'dropped' the eggs from a perch. The day before she was in a corner pawing at the garbage bag and shoving...
Ok here are the eggs, I threw out two brown ones. See the pore like areas?
What do you think? Should I incubate them? They looks strange to me, some are white, some more yellowish. I don't have a clue what do for for cham egg incubation, I breed geckos. I was going to wait a few...
So I have a WC Mellers chameleon, I've had her since October. I think she was imported last summer.
Well short story, I thought Commodore was male until about 5 minutes ago when I discovered 12-20 eggs on the bottom of the flex.
Im really really shocked, and im not sure what to do...
Good News!
I went out in search of a ficus and a pothos, and a few hours later when i returned, he's looking better. I did notice he pooped, im not sure if chams have issues with constipation, and if that could have also been a issue with the sudden change in behavior.
Leaves had been taken out...
I woke up to find my largest Meller in a total state of stress. He was fine, he's been eating but not keen on drinking which i've been working out (afraid of the spray bottle and ignored the drip).
He's black and dark brown, pacing constantly, flapping his lobes and hissing and things (which...
