Is this moth safe to feed off?

like waving said, you're also exposing them to germs and bacteria etc that arent normalized to them. that said in nature most things that are toxic/poisonous advertise it with flashy colors. I don't feed any of my herps "wild" anything there's no way of knowing if that moth fed on something that...

Feeding large chameleons warm blooded prey

I couldn't agree more. But from my perspective and experience the hobbyists create the data. At least the overly competent ones do. If you keep a log book on your animals. when you got them, how you house them, log everything and I do mean everything, feedings, vet visits, bulb changes...

Feeding large chameleons warm blooded prey

Well i'm going to put my 2.3 cents in on this subject as it's often broached with various other herps as well. I scanned through the entire thread and some of the responses are rather emotional and we'll simply bypass those you are welcome to your emotions. Others like the gout/mbd person are...

    impaction/eggbound new rescue

finally a BM and urate. the Bm was rock hard almost constipated stool at the beginning and tapered to a softer stool that I recognize as normal for chameleons meaning she was also dehydrated when I got her, same for the urate very yellow and stiff beginning to light fluffy white urate finish so...

    impaction/eggbound new rescue

just curious how many crickets should this girl be eating on a daily basis? I would hazard a guess that she is about 10+ months right now. Now that I have her eating should I let her eat her fill and just keep offering till she stops or are chammies prone to gluttony?

    impaction/eggbound new rescue

ok diagnosis is advanced MBD, through improper supplementation and lack of UVB, as we all know doesn't matter how much calcium they get if there isnt UVB. They are pretty sure there are eggs in there too they don't think she is eggbound yet. she is on liquid calcium glubionate, and meloxicam...

    impaction/eggbound new rescue

Trying to get information on her care from these people is like pulling hens teeth, i asked for all the information they could give me on housing and maintinence and feeding for her and the reply was along the lines of "you know standard chameleon stuff" ..... what does that even mean? on the...

    impaction/eggbound new rescue

Thank you Carlton for the reply. She'll be at the vet in about 12 hours she is holding on still. They dropped off her lights which aren't sufficient. The UVB light is only a 13w zoo med through a fine screen cage (repti breeze) plus its one of the parallel tube style that virtually all the UVB...

    impaction/eggbound new rescue

I would like to note I'm not ruling out MBD seeing as they didn't bring me any lights I don't know what they had for lights on the tank. I'm not looking forward to the possibility of an emergency cessarian should she be eggbound. though I think that would be a more positive prognosis than severe...

First off an introduction of sorts. I have been doing herp/small animal/cat/dog rescue for years. I do have excellent access to veterinary care, anyone participating who is not offering constructive advice or attempting to flame etc will be ignored. The vet is not in the office to see this...
