OK
well We just had a clutch of 16 babies so far doing very well. I was wondering, how much is enough feeding for these guys. I placed about 30 pin heads in there with them and they pretty much chomp them all. I have been feeding them about 2 to 3 times a day.

Aloha
I was just curious how you all were doing with the recent cold weather that has dropped into your are?
What have the temp been like in your area and what have you been doing with your chams?
Good luck this weekend too.

I have been trying reduce the amount of water usage my system is using. I have 2 cages with two nozzles in one (black) and 4 in the other(red). My system does two things. first it provides water for the chams and the other is to keep the temps down in the afternoon time...
I go through about...
My female jackson gravid now about 4 weeks, just yeasterday let a poo go with very orange urates. This is the first time this has happened as she gets adequate water from 7 - 5 min misting cycle per day. (lots of cycles to help control temp level in viv).
She has otherwise had perfectly...
I have been reading more about Chams here in the Islands and noted that there were to morphological types. It is not clear whether they are sub species of xanth or two totally different types. I haven't found anything further on this. I posted the link below...
I finally got a successful meeting between my male and female (joe and girl).
looking forward to the next chapter of Cham care....

So I imagine that female chams like female humans run their cycles (no offense to anyone intended). If they do, what are the signs?
In humans, when ovulation occurs: there are changes in fluid retention, mood, internal temp, and some skin and hair appearance.
Since we unable to...

So my girl just hit the 6mos mark of her being gravid. 3 mos ago she passed 4 slugs, and last week she passed 2 more. I hope this means that christmas is here soon.
I was just curious though, Since Jacksons are live bearing, at some point is possible to see abdominal movement or...
A little Hx:
I have one male/one female jackson about 1 year old. about 3 weeks ago i switched their cages as he was in bigger cage and I wanter her to have more room. She is also gravid and she is moving into the period where I can expect babies soon.
Any way soon after moving, both...
I am in the midst of planning a new cage for the guys. I am coming to understand this thing of Cham madness.
I know that height is important but given that I want to build a viv that is about 4' high, what would be good dimensions to figure the width to be?
Just curious.

Is it possible to palpate for babies for Jacksons? If so what should it feel like?
I would think that in the later stages it maybe possible. Or maybe it would be like my wife and occ I would see a little bulging out when they stretch their legs....LOL
Just curious

I know that I have been one the people who has been looking for empty egg cartons for my crickets, but I have found a pretty good alternative. In the past if there has not been enough room for all of my crickets to hide they tend to start fighting for hiding places.
What I have found is that...
I have been reading that fruit flies and nymphs are a good feeder for baby Chams, I was wondering if small silk worms would also be a good regular feeder too?
Any thoughts?

I have been contemplating moving my Chams from the spot near my front door to my balconey. Wondering if it was going to be too hot for them, blah, blah, blah. I finally did the deed yeaster day. It took a good three hours of cleaning and figuring things out. The hardest part was trying to figure...
My first venture into silkworms was a success and a failure. Of the 1000 mounted egs that I purchased, 95% of the eggs hatched. I got them to about 3" long and then either heat from their bodies or just ambient temps spiked and I had a mass kill off from fungus and too much moisture. I saved...
Well my first batch of silkworm hatched and dopey me allowed too much moisture to build up so about 80% of my first batch died.
I have been wondering, I got my first batch from coastal silkworms. The eggs were glued to the bottom the dish and it was recommended that I dont try to remove...
With the additional time the HERP MIST system has allowed me, I have been able to sit and watch the chams more and observe. What I have noticed is that My male has been having very watery fecal deposits. I mean there is an fairly large fluid deposit with the regular feces.
Should I start to...
