Thank you. We are not discouraged, but will be looking for an older chameleon this time around for sure. I will absolutely start looking local! Thanks again!
Sadly, despite our best efforts including a vet visit, our little guy is just not going to make it. Thank you to everyone here who gave us suggestions. We feel like we did the best we could - spent way over $1000 and even took off work to care for him, but he was just too little and too...
Ok so I first posted on here a few days ago about my baby chameleon, The Professor, who I thought was dying. We finally got him into the vet this morning. We had an appointment for tomorrow but one opened up earlier today so we took it. Basically he is very dehydrated. The good news is that...
We have a vet appointment wednesday morning. It was the soonest we could get in. In the meantime we are leaving her alone except to offer crickets and misting. We set up a dripper for water but she hasn't seemed to notice. Thanks again for everyone's help.
Jajeanpierre, thanks for your input. We have mostly left him/her alone yesterday and today the only times we put our hands into the enclosure was to put crickets in and the to remove those that weren't eaten. We added a drip so he/she (not sure if it's male or female) can use that to drink. It's...
Thank you. I will try the dropper today and get some leaves higher up. We call her the Professor. She is sleeping again today so although yesterday seeing her eat made me hopeful, today's sleeping is discouraging. I plan to call the vet again and trying to get in there asap.
There are lots of leaves in the enclosure. He chose to climb up away from the leaves. I know he should not be sleeping during the day. But he's vastly improved from yesterday. I posted a pic of the whole enclosure in my first post and so it won't let me post it here. But it's in an album on my...
This is him right now after a misting. He is not upside down. The pictures keep turning sideways. He's been up there on a wire at the top of the cage for about the last 35-45 minutes.
Ok so I posted yesterday about my Panther Cham being dehydrated. He/she woke up and seemed alert this morning. Then we misted. He runs and hides during a misting. Or just hunkers down on a branch and closes his eyes. Then stays that way even after the misting has ended. Never seems to drink. The...
During the misting he/she looks all puffed up. But sleeps through the whole time. Doesn't seem to drink. The uvb light is on. We put in a .05 and it's been on all day.
I so appreciate everyone's input. He looked a little better his morning. Alert. Then he went back to closing his eyes. We decided to slightly lower the temp of the basking lamp and also the uvb for now. And we are going to mist for longer periods 2 -3 times today. Like a good 30 minute misting...
Thanks for the info. The cage is in the 70s now for over night. He's sleeping alive but still not lookng too happy. I will change the bulbs tomorrow and try to get better temps in there. We opted for the glass because we have a cat. The cat rarely goes in that room and seems completely...
