I agree with alphakenc that you need to give the lil guy a lot more time. Chameleons seem to be fairly stress-prone animals, and they can take a few weeks or months before they adapt fully to a new schedule or place. Give it time. If he's still seeming stressed out at lights out in 2 weeks, post...
Absolutely, I think this is the sanest way to think about it. Obviously you shouldn't ONLY have a cup, but if you had a brilliant automatic misting system AND a shiny, well-lit reflective water glass that was cleaned daily, it might not be crazy.
Hi, non-Canadian here, but can you tell us what kind of cham, how old, and how much you're looking to spend? These are all necessary to give u the best advice possible :) thx
Hey everyone,
So I had a chameleon pass away recently from what we believe was a stroke and since then I have been on this kick to understand the chameleon brain. Are there any review articles that examine chameleon neurobiology/neuroanatomy, perhaps with an emphasis on the CNS? I have been all...
IMHO this is exactly what you need to be a good chameleon owner: enthusiasm and the ability to admit mistakes and correct them. Great job taking criticism and acting! I really hope this turns things around for your little guy.
Hmm by this logic if you made water somehow disperse more light you could increase the probability of drinking right? So maybe increasing the amount of light on your misting setup or somehow arranging the water to make it "shinier" would make watering easier?
I guess it's possible that they're...
This is not the way I meant "re-train"; as you would a German Shepherd to roll over for amusement. I'm talking about the learning and behavioral modification process that a wild-caught chameleon would have to go through to adapt to this terrible situation in order to survive. My interest is not...
I'm assuming that lip thing is transient calcium dust from a feeding and has gone away.
About the scales: that definitely looks like some cham 5 o'clock shadow. What happens when she puffs out her neck pouchey thing? Do they stick out more? Has she shed lately?
This is weird. I do not know anything about this. Can you film it tomorrow and upload to YouTube? Very curious what this looks like.
Also could you give some more information about the situation? What time are you turning out the lights? Is he basking when you turn out the lights? What do you...
Yes, of course, drinking water is good, and, sure, he's not perfect, nor am I endorsing anything about him, and I already stated that I'm not advocating this. The most interesting part of this is hhhhooooowwww has this wwwiiizzzaaarrdd managed this?
This is a great point. A wild-caught...
So, first: I am not advocating this. At all. I think it's quite unnatural and, well, that a couple bucks retained from a couple paychecks would buy the automatic mister system this clearly experienced handler and their chams would need.
... but this wizard on reddit has figured out how to get...
I fully and completely endorse this.
What are your rates for a single adult? If your rates + gas to Dallas are lower than my vet's then I would be happy to board my senior veiled with you when I have to go to a conference in March.
