Thanks for sharing all of this great information! We have successfully gotten through the pupating stage, now the moths are laying eggs! Fun stuff. :O)

Do chameleons like to be handled

I assumed that my chameleon would not want to be held (a male veiled), and he still may change his mind someday. As of now, he rushes toward the door of his cage everytime he sees me, and I am unable to open his door to feed him or clean his plants, without him climbing onto me!!! I can't walk...

Ha ha ha, funny :) I especially like the last 30 seconds.

    Ginormous hornworms

Hmmm, I will have to do some research on that. It might be a fun thing to do with the kids, and then just release the moths?

    Ginormous hornworms

Er, I mean, Goliath Hornworms. I ordered some of these for my juvenile chameleon and have been feeding him 1-2 of them a day. The ones he hasn't eaten yet are now about 3 inches long, and I feel like they are too big! What do I do with them now?! My daughter has been feeding them to her...

    Lief is growing up!

bugboy-thanks so much for your encouragement, it is appreciated! Love your signature by the way. LOL I ended up giving him a few silks and a hornworm after he went all morning and afternoon without touching the crickets that were roaming around in his "house". It is nice to know that he...

    Done with crickets

I had lots of cricket death too, and have now got some Dubia roaches to try as a staple. My cham won't eat crickets anymore, but he doesn't like roaches either! He loves the silk worms and horn worms though.

    Lief is growing up!

He is loving his worms, and now seems to have no interest in crickets. I can't get him to eat the Dubias. I will try again in the morning when he is hungriest.

    Lief is growing up!

I was under the impression that I should leave his lights on for about 12 hours a day. Here is is getting light at 7 and dark at 9. Is that too much?

    Lief is growing up!

I don't...okay, I will pick one up when I go out to get crickets. So dripping all day and misting every 3 hours from 8-5 sound okay?

    Lief is growing up!

I have heard that, but thought it was a myth... We feed them to our bearded dragon, but will probably skip them once we add all of the other feeders that I mentioned. I have an umbrella plant and a pothos in his enclosure, with an aquazamp rain dome. I don't have any glass to mist, but the...

    Lief is growing up!

He has had his first shed (since I've owned him), and survived the care of my husband while I was out of town...so, I thought some pics were in order! LOL I have no idea how old he is, but I feel like maybe he is a bit skinny. And, his eye turrets look sunken to me. He never drinks, that I...

    What are your chameleons names?

Our first chameleon, a juvenile male veiled, is named Lief. :)

    Vacation?

Would it be better to take my juvenile male veiled chameleon with me on vacation, or leave him in the care of an inept keeper (my husband)? We are going to the beach, east coast. 4-5 hour drive. His whole viv and all of his stuff will fit in the back of my van. Would it be too stressful...

    plants for Jake

I just put 2 Hibiscus out on my front patio today. While they are pretty, I'm pretty sure they were chosen for the chameleon. Don't tell my husband! Ha ha.

    AZ Rain Dome questions

Now it doesn't work at all! I think my bucket ran low on water and now when it turns on, nothing happens!

Not sure if my little veiled is well...:(

Oh, and his name is Lief :) Okay, so 8 times a day for how long each time? Should it vary? I have just hooked up the aquazamp rain dome and am setting the timer in the morning, so let me know what you think! I tried a 60w bulb and couldn't get the temp up to 85, so I put the 100w back in...

    AZ Rain Dome questions

I had a stroke of brilliance this afternoon and finally found a use for the little wire cooling rack that came with my Babycakes donut maker! LOL I set my heat lamp up on that, getting it off the screen and creating the exactly perfect temp in my basking area. It is metal, so it should be...

Not sure if my little veiled is well...:(

Just an update on my little guy. He seems to have a good appetite. Still haven't seen him drink. Here is a pic from today. Do his eyes look sunken? He has the white stuff in his nostrils. He occasionally does a large yawn type thing where he opens his mouth... This is a pic of his urate...
